I loved The Unwanted Guest. I read it in one sitting. :)

Next up is a book by Elly Griffiths. The Stranger Diaries. It is another murder mystery, described as gripping and Gothic.

I've lost this thread for some reason.

Read loads since I last posted and on my first Val McDermid at the moment. As it's on the kindle, I'll have to check the title.

Recently I've loved Olive, Again by Elizabeth Stroud and Isabelle and Amy, by the sae author.

We have new fitted book shelves do I've reorganised and purged. My favourites are in on section:
Birds Without Wings.   Louis de Bernier
    Shindler's Ark.              Thomas Keneally
The Narrow Road to the Deep North.    Richard Flanagan
    The Sellout.         Paul Beatty
    The Book Thief.     Markus. Zuzak
    Days Without End.  Sebastian Barry

I loved Lincoln in the Bardo, but it's disappeared. Now who the hell I have lent it to?

Don't worry @pollypenny we reorganised the bookshelves a couple of weeks ago and I've lost one of my Jo Nesbo books.  Thought I'd lent it to my dad but he's searched his house and can't find it so looks like I'll be re-purchasing it at some point

Finished The Hogs Back Mystery - was very intriguing and I only managed to guess half the plot which is a massive win when it comes to mystery novels for me.  It was also the last of my unread books on my book shelf prior to March so now it's on to all the new goodies.  Starting with The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman which is actually a library book rather than one from the pile but I don't mind.

A friend has confessed to having Lincoln in the Bardo, but can't find it.
Finished the Val McDermid, A Place of Execution.   Excellent. So many twists and tense.

Hello all. Since the S.O.T. (start of term) my reading of anything has plummeted. Just finished Amanda Brookfield The Simple Rules of Love 597 pages which I began on 19th September. It was a family saga, set in Surrey. I gave it three stars. The larger the family, the greater the chance of dramatic events overtaking them.  My Mum volunteers in a CS and gave me a carrier bag of books, of which this was one, when I finally got to see her in August. Just as well as Flintshire now in local lockdown.
Reading NaNoWrMo on my Kindle now hoping to finish that and some books about the history of Liverpool in October. I’m five books ahead of target (43/50) having decided that 60 was not achievable. I read so much for work it wasn’t going to happen. Have a good frugal weekend money savers.

@Charly27 my mum is always giving me books that she bought from charity shops and even last week an amazon parcel arrived with a copy of a new book she read and thought I would also like a copy of.

Finished The Rules of Magic and didn't really rate it.  It seemed a little rushed and lots of things were just glossed over - much prefer Practical Magic which I'm now about half way through.  Have also read Skin Care by Caroline Hirons which I also borrowed from the library.  Have been following her for years and just wanted to have a read to see if there was anything new in there that she hadn't already shared before (spoiler - there isn't).

My mum saves them all up for me ruby_eskimo  :D I finished ‘No Plot, No Problem’ and also a Margaret Dickinson novel set In Lincolnshire during World War 2 called ‘Wish me Luck’. Romantic fiction. I gave it two stars. Felt it was a little unsatisfying as an ending. Two many loose ends. May read a couple on my Kindle next.

Glad I'm not the only one to suffer at the hands of their mothers charity shop raids!  Finished Practical Magic on Friday and enjoyed it, although the characters of the aunts were completely different to their characters in the prequel which was written after Practical Magic so was a little disappointed in that.  Still a 3 out of 5 for me.  On to Gotta Get Theroux This which is Louis Theroux's autobiography.  Really enjoy his documentaries so interested to see a little more of his background from this.  Then it's finally on to the new books I have - quite excited!

Morning all.  Finished Gotta Get Theroux This on Friday and was definitely interesting to see the other side of some of his work especially the Saville pieces but would have like a bit of a broader overview.  Started The White Queen by Philippa Gregory over the weekend and might actually finish it tonight.  I only read my first book by her this year but have quickly fallen in love with her writing style - I find it engaging and I get drawn in to the stories and the imagery that she creates.  I love that all the ones I've read so far have been mainly from the female perspective on historical events.  I've even ordered the next one in the series used from amazon last night because I want to know I can dive back into the series as soon as possible, not that I don't have enough books to get through first
