Exactly this. 90% of those claiming refunds were never mis-sold anything but are simply now, all these years later, claiming they were hard done by because of this silly 'claim culture' we're living in.

Quite happy to spend the money when it was given out.

Claim companies are bringing down the lenders and that's why people aren't getting what they feel they deserve - they go after them so hard everyone ends up losing out in the end.

So why don't you hold yourself accountable for taking out the loan in the first place? your an adult and you made the choice to take out the loan.

By saying you were miss sold they are saying you should never have been offered the loan in the first place, so what would you have done if they didn't offer you the money?

have you just come on here to have a dig at those who mistakenly used them?

Taking a loan out from anyone is a sign of something you can't afford.

"message to Martin Lewis please can you make a statment on your ITV programe
the issues is that a lot of people had gone and still in debts over these pay day scam loans
they was not hard checks on these poor people you can not afford the sky high charges
the FCA and others should take responsibllity after all they were meant to reglated these scam bags
4.3% is a insult to many 1000,s of people who are still in debt
if it was a PPI claim different story
the goverment has some blame too"

Why is it always someone else's fault? I was in debt once to the tune of £20k from my uni years, it was my fault alone for spending it on nights out, partying and not thinking about the future. Took me over 10 years to pay it off, plus interest. If I think really hard and apply warped logic I bet I can blame Brexit, or Trump, or the Tories, like the chap above. Those in debt have zero chance of getting out unless they accept responsibility for their mess.

No doubt this post will get deleted or shouted down, such is the mindset of people nowadays.

I doubt anyone mistakenly used them, it was very clear that it was money being loaned and how much the repayment/s would be.

People need to be take responsibility for their actions and as adults if they choose to borrow money then they need to accept the consequences of that instead of trying to blame others for their decision.

I've often found that people who look to blame others for their poor financial decisions often end up repeating the mistakes and struggle with money. Those that accept what they are doing wrong and attempt to sort it out often end up doing well.

A significant proportion of people who took Wonga loans knew full well they could not afford to repay them, yet they still went ahead with the application (often with no alternative I fully appreciate). As expected, they then failed to repay their loans in accordance with the contract they signed.

Next thing you know they are being told they were missold the loans and are due lots of compensation. Big number are thrown around about how much they are "owed" and the claims firms are fighting to make the claims for them. Unsurprisingly Wonga's business model collapses and they are gone.

Now people are complaining they are missing out on the compensation they are "due".....

Even allowing for the cost of a stamp, a free thirty quid is pretty good...
