Well the Op can do as he likes I suppose.
The whole thing sounds extremely dodgy to to me & I would not be getting involved at all.

Short of forged notes, what possible scam angle are you seeing?

Why does the buyer living in Madrid make it more likely than Manchester?

It's the cost involved to come and get the car and take it back toSpain. I would have the same reservations if it was someone from North of Scotland. There comes a point when it is not financial viable to do something and that's when my alarm bells ring.

I had a vehicle on gumtree and you do get lots of scammers. I used to google the name or words used by the purchaser and they would appear as having been used before and others warning of the scams.

Lovely, an' all, but what IS the scam?

He's handing cash over. Not a cheque, not escrow, not bank transfer, not whatever else - a stack of crisp £20s. Unless the notes are forged, what IS the scam?

I honestly don't know as I'm not up on all the scams but my gut feeling is something will show itself along the way.

I don't wish to sound harsh, unkind or unhelpfull, but I'm also struggling to find out what it is your fearful of here?

You hold all the cards, AFAICS.

The guys coming from Spain to buy a car from you, at his expense.

Meet him at a time of your convenience.

If he tries to muck you about, wants to pay in a way that won't suit you, refuses to sign documents etc, etc etc.....then tell him no thanks, the car's no longer for sale.

As someone who has buyers try to frack me off when selling cars over the years the coming from Spain bit, (although unusual), wouldn't bother me too much; just a likely to get a clown from the next street tring to pull a fast one.

TLDR....if he comes either sell it to him in the usual way or don't!
    Good luck :)

If the guy lived a mile away, but everything else was the same, would you be similarly worried?

If not, then it's purely the distance thing that's putting the fear up you, right?

Why? Are Spanish people more likely to commit fraud than us Britons?
All foreigners are dodgy. Mr Farage said so, and that’s why we voted for Brexit.

Maybe they weren't sure the car could make it to spain? :D

There are quite a few East Europeans selling RHD cars in Spain to those wishing to return.

Just because they are coming from Spain does not mean they are Spanish.

Photos needed of the buyers N.I.E (N.i.F) this is their I.D and licence that will again have a picture & address of the buyer. ( Spanish buyer will not bat an eyelid about having this done)

Yes secondhand cars are "at least" twice the price in Spain so if a lot of parts are needed for his car ?
You need to fill out the permanent export section on your log book (V5 ?)

Spanish friends could not believe what I paid for our RHD car that we bought from another expat to return in ourselves.
