Quick update - i have booked flights now, so my first ever trip to Vegas will become reality !
Going from Dublin PE with American Airlines..
We actually did go up to our nearest Virgin Holidays Store to book the previous package i mentioned. Long story short, but after initally saying she could beat the previous quote, the assistant totally screwed up the booking, and after spending 2 hours i wont get back at store, and 50 mile round trip, i told them to cancel it, so now i have to wait for deposit back.. will be putting a complaint in..0 -
at least u got your trip sorted !
I book my flights ready for September too (road trip to Vegas)....
I truly believe i found the most un-realistic prices ever, and i mean EVER ! (for those that know me on here, i am a tightwad and like all for nothing or cheap as chips!)
So been watching flights for the 3 of us (me, dad and my mate), Fly LON - SFO , then fly home from LAX - LON ........... (peasant class)
Toyed with the idea of booking with Travelup , for an "Austrian airlines" ticket on a codeshare UNITED airlines flight, which was LON - SFO direct, and then LAX via 1 stop , then LON..........
Travelup were doing the flight with Baggage for £413 which i though was pretty awesome! Last week of Feb this (Sat to Sat).........
Went to book, but found out it was a Basic Basic seat with bags, no seat choice, and other perks u need, etc ...... so add on food and seat = £450 + ...
The kind of normal price i guess!
On Saturday just gone, did my usual checking (i do use Skyscanner).....
Then decided to check on EXPEDIA, & Netflights....
Saw a price, 25th Sep - 8 nights, direct both ways with Virgin Atlantic .........
Said it included baggage, said 6 seats at this price...
Figured it was one of those "Pay for the flight, wait to get confirmation, followed by the price has increased, pay the extra or get a refund" kind of emails...........
20 mins after booking, got the Virgin ref, logged into my flying account, theres all 3 tickets, all Econemy Classic, i book the seats, confirm bags, BOOM !!! what a DEAL !
and the Price ???????? £375 each , booked via Netflights !
Was only those 2 brokers showing that deal for those flights (both sites said 6 seats avail), as soon as i paid Netflights, i checked expedia to see if it showed 6 seats still, but it had dropped to 3, so i guess both brokers use the same Seat agent for Virgin........
Either way, cracking price, just hope i win some cash in June in Vegas to fund the September trip ! Otherwise, i gonna be living off Jack in the Box Saver menu when in the US !0 -
We are going in Sept as well Stuie
You snatched some good flight prices there - its always a bit scary booking thru those 3rd party sites, i remember when i booked some Bangkok flights thru Travelbag, i googled Travelbag AFTER i booked them and i was bricking it for a while, but it all turned out ok.
I paid 650 each for Premium with American Airlines from Dublin to Vegas, with very short stop-overs in Chicago one way and Dallas the other.
Of course have also paid for cheap flights from Exeter to Dub and back and have to book 1 night in airport hotel.
We are thinking Flamingo ( Flamingo Room, High Roller View ) for hotel, but i will come back on for more advice soon. :T0 -

There’s been quite a few dates and fares pop up for southern USA (LAX, LAS and SFO) for flights @ £240+ over the past few weeks. Mainly through till May, and then Nov onwards (so no use for September).
If you don’t already use Jacks Flight Club, I’d recommend signing up for the future
Especially worth paying the £29 fee for the premium deals that can go / run out quickly
Edit: checked and they’ve been mainly with either BA or Virgin / Delta it seems
Edit 2: and Manchester / Edinburgh to LAS for £350 with United thru till May and Nov onwards
Availability may be a little limited as they’ve been on the distribution list for a while now0 -
So....should I buy my dollars today, or wait ?
We have a trip in March, have quite a bit left over from last visit, but need some more.
Yesterday I nearly bought some at a little over $1.28....today the same seller is over $1.29....buy today, or see if there is a jump after brexit ?0 -

I've bought £500.00 worth today at the rate of 1.286 just to be on the safe side, I think it will fall after Brexit but who knows for sure? I'll buy the rest closer to my trip (not Vegas this year i'm afraid) in May.
We'll just have to wait and see...0 -
Why are you guys buying at a low rate, Revolut over last few days has hovered around 1.31.
I don’t buy dollars any more other than maybe exchanging a few on Revolut.
Other spending is done with Starling, Post office credit card and a clarity card, maximising the rate on the day0 -
Ordered today for collection tomorrow at Debenhams of all places.
Got $1.295...Happy enough with that.
I have used many online sites before, but if I can get a price on the high street very similar. I will go with that.
We also use Halifax Clarity and Post Office cards when there.
So the good news is, now that I have bought dollars, you can expect a nice little jump in the price next week.0 -
Did the currency gamble pay off? (genuine question)0
