Co-op emailed me this so should be all setup soon

    Your Current Account application
    Hi******

    Application number: ******

Thanks for applying for a Current Account.

We're delighted to tell you that subject to a few formalities, we've approved your application.

In the next few days you'll receive the paperwork and information for your new account.

We may need to contact you to ask for proof of identity and proof of address. If we do, we'll send you a letter to let you know.
    Co-op emailed me this,

Once we have everything we need, you'll receive the paperwork and information for your new account within a few days.

    Thanks,
    The Co-operative Bank
  • After this you will receive the letter at your address mentioning the same i.e. account number and sort code and after couple of days you will receive your debit card and PIN. Just a note, as per my personal experience we were not able to register for online banking online and I know other few people who had same issue, don't know if its for specific customers or recent issue or all have had this in past. Even after entering correct information it gave us error and had to call up to get it registered which only took few mins.

At the risk of provoking the ire of a certain poster:cool:, once your Co-op account is up and running and you've selected Everyday Rewards, use your debit card as often as possible. Co-op will pay 5p for each debit card payment (max 30 x 5p each month).

I've had my Co-op account since 1970 and have always used it as my 'main' account, despite having multiple others along the way..

I never manage anything like 30 debit card payments as I CBA setting up contrived schemes to make tiny card payments, but do use it for small purchases. However, I don't condemn those who do.

I would be annoyed if 'overuse' led Co-op to withdraw this additional reward:(.

I am one of the folk that make 30 debit card payments (30 x £1 into an NS&I savings account, then convert to bonds). It doesn't take me long as the card details are stored on my phone and at the end of the day, its free money but understand that a lot of people CBA.

I don't see it being withdrawn due to overuse though, as I suspect the folk like myself that make the 30 x transactions a month are in the minority.
  • Even I do 30 debit card transactions paying into NS&I and Skipton savings accounts, I scatter it throughout the month as and when I have time to do this. I feel it's a good reward as I am saving, getting interest and also getting £1.5 a month.
