  • Hi Fergus10,
I'm experiencing the same situation as you now. My account has been blocked, living with no money and they just repeatly saying "We are unable to process any transactions or requests as the bank is currently complying with its UK Statutory requirements and the bank will be in touch in due course".
I have released a Notice of Intended Prosecution a few days ago because I drove a little over speed (48/40mph). I am trying to build a connection between these two cases. I want to ask if you have experienced any illegal incidents in that period?

This is an old thread. Fergus10 hasn't been here since June.

There will be no connection between the speeding NIP and your bank problem.

48mph in 40 limit should get you on a speed awareness course, unless you've already done one.

So does the frozen bank account result from the driving offence, or the other way round..?
    Evolution, not revolution
  • Actually I did nothing but that, so I got the suspicion. The law does not say anyone can block the account but who knows what happens in reality.

The bank will know. Have you tried asking them?

To be honest you don't actually have to do anything wrong.

Last week I had 2 run-ins with HSBC.
Mon: they blocked a payment as suspicious when in reality it was genuine (and I was the payee): they could not verify the a/c (Tesco)- long conversation with their Fraud dept. I couldn't transfer it that night. Made a complaint. Had spent a frustrating hour on phone trying to sort it out
Weds. Logged into my a/c only to discover it had been suspended. Another 3/4 hour on phone. Made another complaint.

One week later  they say there was only one complaint and if a payment is blocked then the account is automatically suspended.- oh, and I 'wasn't happy.'  That's news to me.
    Actually I was angry.......
Time to wave goodbye to not only the passwords- but also the bank. Of course they say they are protecting my money with all these scams about.
