Showing my age, maybe...
Can't you write/print your own cheque still? As long as all details are present & correct it doesn't (didn't) have to come from an official cheque book?
Scan the other HFax one and photo shop the other account numbers; print it off & voila?0 -

Yes it does - banks keep records of cheque numbers - if one that comes in from a book not issued it will get rejected - if you reuse an old cheque number it will flag up as duplicate and get rejected.0 -
I've had a look on the Halifax website, the number to call for a replacement chequebook is 0800 0 15 15 15. Apparently the lines are open 24 hours a day. I'd say this is your best bet, I can't find any other info online.MarkFromCornwall wrote: »OP, I was in the same situation as you a few years ago. I'd had an account for several years but no cheque book. When I phoned and requested one I couldn't believe it when they insisted I went to the branch nearly twenty miles away, but they wouldn't budge, and I made the trip.
It's a bit of a drive in for them & no idea when they can make it happen as it has to be done around work which is a PITA. It'll get done eventually though. Thanks.0 -
