Not able to order a cheque book over the phone with Halifax

I had a look at my Halifax Reward on-line account and can't see any option to order a cheque book either. I do have one for the account, but I've had it years.0

It looks like maybe the person on the phone may be right then I guess. Just means a travel to go to the branch and getting time outside of work for the person.
UNLESS you could set up a linked account with Birmingham midshires, pay in your first payment via cheque and then change the linked account for subsequent payments? Does anyone know if that’s a possibility or is it that the first payment for any linked account has to be via cheque?A simple Google search finds:
Ordering a replacement card, cheque book or PIN
If you're registered for Online Banking you can request a replacement card or PIN online or through your Halifax Mobile Banking app, in three simple steps. If you'd prefer to speak to someone, you can call us on 0345 720 3040.0 -
I think the issue maybe that to get your very first chequebook with an account you need to provide a specimen signature - this in the (unlikely, but may happen if it is for a high amount for example) event the bank has to check a signature on a cheque.
If you opened the account on-line you may not have physically signed an application.
Some banks do post a specimen signature form when you open the account others don't.
A quick visit to your branch will sort it out.0 -

Since they’re on 6 day working weeks does anyone know about the Birmingham Midshires question I raised earlier? As this may end up being quicker than going to their Halifax branch.0 -
If you have to go in to branch and only need the one cheque could you ask for a bankers draft/cashier's cheque instead? Not sure if Birmingham midshires would accept them so ring first to find out. Saves having to keep a cheque book you have no need for and means you don't have to wait however long for it to arrive.
Last time I had a Halifax cheque book was in about 2007 and I don't remember how I requested it so can't help on that side.0 -
OP, I was in the same situation as you a few years ago. I'd had an account for several years but no cheque book. When I phoned and requested one I couldn't believe it when they insisted I went to the branch nearly twenty miles away, but they wouldn't budge, and I made the trip.0

Sister bank, Lloyds have no way to order a cheque book online as far as I could find, but you can order by text, oddly.0

I had exactly the same experience as you when I had my Halifax account a few years ago, except luckily my branch was only 3 miles away! I thought the call centre must have got it wrong, but apparently that is the procedure!0 -
I've had a look on the Halifax website, the number to call for a replacement chequebook is 0800 0 15 15 15. Apparently the lines are open 24 hours a day. I'd say this is your best bet, I can't find any other info online.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0
