Not able to order a cheque book over the phone with Halifax

In my experience people over the phone don't get 100% of things right 100% of the time. I've been given incorrect information numerous times so i'm just checking on this one.
So you've been with Halifax for years, probably about 8 of them, but you've never had a cheque book. You phone up to request one but get told as it's your first one you can only do this by going in the branch.
I personally have never had to go in branch for a cheque book with any bank. Secure message has worked where that's available or telephone at least. It's been so long since i had my first Halifax cheque book that i can't remember.
Can anyone remember their first Halifax cheque book & how they got it? Obviously preferable for those who've picked their first one up recently.

You might not be eligible for one - if you have managed for 8 years without one why now?
Nobody 'picks up' cheques from branches - you will receive it (or not) by post.0 -
Is there not an option online to “request a chequebook”?
That’s how it’s usually done0 -

I didn't actually mean walking in to a branch and physically picking up a single cheque. I should've been clearer.
What i meant with that final sentence was in case Halifax have changed their T&Cs it would be preferable to hear from someone who has recently received a cheque book from the Halifax bank and did they receive this after a phone call or did they have to go in to their branch and request it ... or did they choose to do that. Someone from a long time ago could've done it over the phone but the T&Cs may or may not have changed.
That is what i meant ... not physically picking up a single cheque in a branch.
Why now? Birmingham Midshires require your first deposit via cheque. That's why.0 -

I have a vague recollection ( haven't written a cheque in years) that you can request via ATM?0

Is the account you gave even eligible for a cheque book?
Not all accounts get them.0 -

I've got a Reward Current Account. I couldn't see an option to order a cheque book online. TBH, I've no idea whether I have a cheque book with the account.0 -
This is also a reward current account.
I have one of these also and I have a cheque book for it too but it’s been that long since I got it that I can’t remember how I got it. I’m fairly sure I never went in branch although I can’t say 100% positive.0 -
A simple Google search finds:
Ordering a replacement card, cheque book or PIN
If you're registered for Online Banking you can request a replacement card or PIN online or through your Halifax Mobile Banking app, in three simple steps. If you'd prefer to speak to someone, you can call us on 0345 720 3040.0 -
I have no option in mobile banking to order a cheque book for my Halifax Reward accounts. I don't think I ever had a Halifax cheque book. Perhaps you need to specify on your application form whether you need a cheque book, and if you said 'no', you might have to request one in Branch if you later changed your mind.0
