    Regarding

Principality BS Regular Saver Bond (Issue 17)

Mine matures next month, fingers crossed its still on the list of available accounts when I get to the correct date. And that the interest rate has not dropped.

I noticed on the list of conditions a maximum holding of £6000. Possibly this £6000 maximum holding needs a mention on the reference page at the top of the thread?

I need to check that my standing order had a final date on it and if not cancel it as it - my regular savings standing orders all go (if possible) through on the 1st of the month just for ease.

    How bizzzare,

I Just rang up Virgin to open their next store regular saver and the guy who answered the phone, asked what I was wanting to open and I said the regular saver whatever issue you are now on, and he said is the Miss Westie983!!! I replied yes, he said I thought I recognised your voice!!!

Now I know I have opened a few virgin accounts in the past but for the manager of the branch to remember my name and my voice especially after seeing loads of customers is quite strange.

Wonder if I will get more chocolates!

If you were phoning from the number they have on record for you, isn't it more likely that they'll be using CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) to bring your details up on screen directly linked from the phone number? Even my local Chinese takeaway/delivery and taxi firms know my address as soon as they answer....

I was offered Voice Recognition recently when I phoned, no need to give ID etc, I think it may have been HSBC. I declined but found it interesting.

Some months ago I was talking to a friend about Rita Streich, an opera singer, with my phone in my hand. The same day I had an offer by e-mail for a box set of her CDs. She is not widely known and isn't a current performer. I found it spooky but nothing surprises me these days about retailers stimulating purchases by any means possible.

(Beautiful voice btw if you're interested :))

    (not mine btw lol)

I think I may have the definitive answer to the Nationwide conundrum.

I went to a branch today to try and get more official information about keeping the 5% going on the FlexDirect account by some means or other, as discussed and achieved by other posters. Only to find out that the branches have been circulated by internal memo dated in the middle of June 2017, clearly aimed at deterring the switch to FlexAccount and back again. I was able to read it and it is very clear.

And there's a hint of another whammy at the end. Nationwide are continuing to play with the idea of stopping the second bite at the 5% cherry on the FlexDirect account, even when 12 months has passed. On the grounds that it is/has been an introductory offer and not intended as a vehicle for savings.

So, for me in September, it's moving from £8500 at 5% to a nominal sum at 1% and the laboured process of building on £250 per month at 5% all over again.

Almost as disappointing as the Santander dip from 3% to 1.5%.

I didn't ask about joint accounts as that is not an option available to me.

    (OFF TOPIC: APOLOGIES)

I love listening to recordings of the late Rita Streich's voice. My favourite version of classic aria: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT7WWseWmyU

Nationwide seem hell bent on deterring me as a saver - I would really like to find a good enough home for my 4 year ISA which matures later this year but for the sake of flexibility its going to have to be 0.5% Nationwide until I can find something worthwhile.
Only a few years back it was a monthly saver up to £1000, the old Cheshire building society monthly saver up to £500 plus a savings bond and the ISA - now just the £500 a month saver until it expires next year
Any other business loosing the amount of income from even one customer would be concerned ...
