I didnt realise you could view Saffron accounts on line if they weren't ones you could open online?

Can I register to have online view access if all I have is the regular saver?

Their policy when I checked earlier this year was that you cannot get online access (not even view only) to the branch-based accounts like the RS unless you also have an online account.

The e-saver account is possibly the easiest one to use, but has a minimum balance requirement of £10. There is a manual process to be followed to add branch accounts in view-only mode onto your online banking. This is subject to the occasional hiccup as mentioned above.

It was possible to arrange a transfer from the e-saver into the RS account, but mine took longer to process than an external payment coming in. Saffron don't mind you having an e-saver just to obtain online access, it was one of their CSA's who told me it was the best way. And they seemed to know what they were talking about.

I have been a member for years when it was Saffron Walden Herts and Essex BS - although its a bit of a trek to Brentwood now since their Stratford branch shut.

Yes you can. All you need to do is to open an online account eSaver. You could then see all of your accounts including the branch base ac. For the branch account you will not be able to do an online transaction but it is handy if you want to check your balance.

    Hi Folks,

    Here is this weekend's update.

    - Ford Money was launched and then withdrawn during the week so not added to page 1

    - Chorley BS Members 12 Month Regular Saver Bond withdrawn
    and removed from post 3

    - Nottingham BS Robin Hood Young Saver Issue 5 (paying 2.75%)
replaced with Issue 6 (paying 2%), updated in post 3

    - Newcastle BS Big Little Saver interest rate dropped from 2.12% to 1.87%, updated in post 3

    - State Bank of India Jumbo Junior Regular Saver interest rate dropping from 1.75% to 1.25% from 1st June 2017, account deleted from post 3 as no longer meets the criteria in post 1 for inclusion in this thread (commiserations to anybody who holds this account - I did warn in my post on page 3 that I did not like the terms and conditions of having an account with a fixed duration (12 to 191 months), variable interest rate that can go down, and a 0.5% penalty to withdraw money before maturity)

    - Virgin Money Regular E-Saver Issue 4 (paying 2.25%, maturing 20th April 2018) withdrawn and Issue 5 launched (paying 2.25%, matures 20th June 2018), updated in post 7

    - Virgin Money Regular Saver Issue 3 (paying 2.25%, maturing 1st April 2018) withdrawn and Issue 4 launched (paying 2.25%, matures 1st June 2018), updated in post 7

    - Hanley Economic BS Home Deposit Saver interest rate dropped from 3.25% to 2.85%, updated in post 8

    - Cumberland BS First Home Saver Issue 2 withdrawn and replaced with Issue 3 (paying the same interest rate, some minor changes in terms and conditions), updated in post 8

    - Tesco Bank Current Account (feeder account, post 9) updated with newer terms and conditions showing you need to pay in £750 per month and have 3 active direct debits and that you will get an interest rate of 3% guaranteed until 1st April 2019

I can imagine lots of Virgin Money branches (or "stores") stocking up on free tea and biscuits for all the people coming in to open their new issue regular saver accounts - I know a lot of you who read this thread collect these accounts!

In one of the posts during the week, somebody referred to me as "she". I am actually a dude - my name is Andrew.

I will do another update next weekend.

You were able to see all the accounts online; branched based ones too.

Like Ashen, mine have all disappeared over the last few days. :(

I have written to them to ask if they can be made visible again. I'll let you know how I get on.

When were you last able to see them... was it a few days ago, or have you only just noticed in the last few days?

My last visit to open Number 5 turned out to be very pleasurable. Formalities were curtailed to about five minutes and then the Muslim girl who dealt with me and I had a serious discussion lasting the rest of the half hour about everything under the sun, including her family history and some of mine, religion, politics, the Rochdale business, the TV programme about it and life in my earlier days and hers.

And this happened to take place during the afternoon of the day of the Manchester atrocity and we were only five miles away. Which later felt a bit spooky.

Please be careful with the numbers :) With Special Saver2's talk of tea and biscuits and you mentioning '5' I thought there was a new one I'd not yet collected.

Your conversation and the events in Manchester strikes a chord with me. On Thursday I walked past the Virgin Store I prefer to use and remembered (as I usually do when I pass that point) how the building in a previous guise had been near destroyed by an IRA bomb. It still chills me that I used a cash machine near that spot shortly before the bomb went off. We should all count ourselves fortunate to be alive, and remember those who are not.

Thanks SS2 - This is a very handy reminder but looking at the website the changes seem to be related only to new applications.

Does anyone know more about the earlier opened accounts?

    http://www.tescobank.com/current-accounts/

With effect from 4 April, our Current Account Guarantee has changed for new applications. To earn 3% AER credit interest on balances up to £3,000 until 1 April 2019, you must now pay in at least £750 per statement month, and pay at least three direct debits each statement month (excluding direct debits to Tesco Bank savings accounts).

This is not surprising but unlike Santander, TSB and Bank of Scotland the existing account holders are protected with terms that are looking so good compared with the new, which are pretty tough in comparison.

    Grateful to Tesco :)
