  • If I open a First Direct Regular Savings Account on, say, 15th October, with £300 when is the next date I can deposit £300? 15th November or 1st November?

    15th November.
You have no control over the date of the second and subsequent payments as the SO is set up by them and the date cannot be changed.

There is technically nothing that stops you from deleting the SO they have set up, and to set up your own. Though it would be silly to play about with the date as you could fall foul of the T&Cs if you get it wrong.

You would fall foul of condition 5.5 (http://www2.firstdirect.com/content_static/pdf/account_terms_0114.pdf - page 45), which says the standing order "MUST" be made on the same day of the month that you opened the account.

There was a post recently from someone who cancelled the SO because their payday changed. FD subsequently wouldn't let them set it up again for a different day.

Yes branch based, and not sure if Issue 1 has been withdrawn. Will know more Monday. Nothing on their website about 5%.
    Issue 2 goes until 31 March 2016.
