Had a letter Friday from Ulster Bank stating that their Special Interest Deposit Account rates are changing from 30/10/14.

The new rates are: £1-£15,000 1.00% AER (previously 1.50% AER)...

PLUS went online and their website is now saying

    Important Notice

All applications to open a Special Interest Deposit Account must be received and completed by 19 September 2014. After this date Special Interest Deposit Account will no longer be available for sale.

    ================================================
So account closing to new users then rates dropping very low.

up to £3,000 per month! Therefore, you can deposit £36,000 in year one.

wow...decent limit isn't it:) shame the rate isn't a market leader, or i would have a slice.
  • Hi Everybody,

Going into market Harborough tomorrow and have arranged to go into the Nottingham bs there to open the 5% regular saver. Chap on the phone explained to me that every time a new branch opens they get their own 5% saver for 18 months. Will try to find out if you can have multiple - ie a wisbech one a market Harborough one etc. .. unless anyone else knows. Anyone know of any other Nottingham bs s opened in last few months also!

A nice thought but in my view it does not work in that way. According to the Nott BS product overview I received when opening this account it clearly states that it is limited to one account per person and the maturity of the product is 31-08-2015. There was no mention of a particular branch on the product description and I can advise that the account was opened in a long established branch.

Are we absolutely certain that the Nottingham bs special regular saver and the wisbech one are 2 distinct accounts. Has anyone on here actually got both. If so I'm arranging a trip to wisbech with my wife soon!

HSBC RSA could you change the source of SO & the SO date ?
I would like to change the source from HSBC to my Lloyds account ?
Also I would like to change the SO to the first day each month ??

Could I do that without risking the 4% interest rate that I have got ?

I remember it could but just want to make sure

    thanks

They're the same account. The Special Saver was originally restricted to Wisbech branch only but after a month or two was extended to allow account opening in all branches.

I've got this account and can only change the SO amount not the date. I believe it must come from a HSBC current account.

To change the date, you can delete the existing SO and set up a completely new one.
