    Hi Everybody,

There are two additions for this weekend's update.

    - Nottingham BS Special Regular Saver added to post 3 - not on their website but showing as available from 14th July 2014 according to the moneyfacts website, paying 5% on up to £250 per month until 31st August 2015. It seems to have the same details as the Wisbech Special Saver so I suspect it is exactly the same account but now definitely available at all Nottingham BS branches

    - Marsden BS Branch Regular Saver added to post 3 - details as per Kazza242's post above (thanks for pointing it out). I have also added that the interest rate is variable and in theory Marsden BS could drop the interest rate leaving you unable to withdraw your money until account maturity (although I think it is unlikely they would actually do this). I think it would have been better if they had made this a fixed interest account, which is usually what banks and building societies do for these accounts that do not allow withdrawals prior to account maturity. I have also added that the account can run for up to 13 months if you open it on the second day of the month as it matures at the end of the month, 12 months after account opening. The maximum balance is £2,400 so you would not be able to make 13 payments of £200 each.

I will do another update next weekend.

The link seems to cause MSE concern so suggest you access site - investmentsense + co + uk replacing '+' by '.' and then search for special saver

Contact any Nottingham BS branch or look to previous posting for HM agencies if that is more your area of abode.
  • Hi Folks,

I cannot find anything that has changed in the last week.

  • Hi Everybody,

Just a quick note to let you know I have updated the Newcastle BS account entries. The Big Home Saver remains at issue 2 but the variable interest rate has increased to 2.54% pa / 2.57% AER. For the children's regular saver account (Big Little Saver), the interest rate remains at 3% but I have added a note to my entry stating this account is also available as a Junior ISA that allows transfers in from other JISA accounts.

I will do a full update this weekend as planned.

  • Hi Folks,

    Here is this weekend's update.

    - Nottingham BS Wisbech and Special Regular Saver accounts moved from post 3 to post 7 as they mature on 31st August 2015 so if you open one from tomorrow onwards then there will be less than 12 months to maturity (I would not be surprised if these accounts get withdrawn soon)

    - Market Harborough BS Monthly Super Saver (Issue 2) added to post 4 as the interest rate of 2% (variable) lasts for 12 months. The interest rate of 1.5% afterwards is not too bad in the current environment. I remember this account and that it disappeared for a while but I see it was re-launched on 20th August 2014. Thanks a lot for pointing it out IanIan. I will add that the maximum balance is £50,000 and there is a clause that says you can only ever open two Monthly Super Saver accounts. I cannot find anything in the details of the account or the general terms and conditions saying that this account is limited to local people or existing members, and it can be opened by post. Once opened, it can be operated online. This account might become quite popular with people who have filled up all the available high interest current accounts and disappear again, so if you want one of these then I would suggest you open it soon.

That is all for this weekend's update.

I will do another update next weekend.

Had a letter Friday from Ulster Bank stating that their Special Interest Deposit Account rates are changing from 30/10/14.

The new rates are: £1-£15,000 1.00% AER (previously 1.50% AER)...

PLUS went online and their website is now saying

    Important Notice

All applications to open a Special Interest Deposit Account must be received and completed by 19 September 2014. After this date Special Interest Deposit Account will no longer be available for sale.

    ================================================
So account closing to new users then rates dropping very low.
