Regular Savings Accounts: The Best Currently Available List!

Is this all new money you are saving, or are you drip feeding from another account? If the latter, wouldn't you get a better return in a straight-forward instant access savings account?
I've literally got every current and savings account going (30+) ranging from 6% to 2.5% all instant access, what's left is in a 1.7% account so I just transfer money from there to any new savings account that appears.0 -

BoS: says I have no qualifying accounts, even though I have had more than one Vantage for some time, so they wouldn't let me apply online. I called them but gave up after waiting for over 20 minutes for a "savings advisor"
Lloyds: I could open the account online and it showed instantly. But I was then unable to set up the SO for it and had to call them to do it for me. I think we may have to wait for an overnight update if we want to set up the SOs ourselves.
TSB: like BoS, said I had no qualifying accounts. That's not so, I have an Enhance or two. I called them and had to endure about 10 minutes of a script, then they said my local Branch had run out of account numbers (!), but they could let me have the Monthly Saver if I was happy with another sort code. Zzzzz. Yes of course, just give me the !!!!!!! account and let me get on with my life. Of course this is not what I said to the girl reading the script.... The account is apparently now open and the SO set up but they said I will have to wait for 24-48 hours before it shows online.
Not sure I'll have the strength to try the BoS one again.............
It is strange, maybe it is because they are considered to be added value accounts which have their own savings accounts. You can't even contact them by secure message to ask the question."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -
I really wouldn't worry. The difference between 2 & 3% on a Regular Saver is the difference between diddly squat and diddly squat.
3% regular saver is £49.
1.9% saving account is £31.
So £18/year extra.
Multiply by 3 is £54.
Assuming you don't pay tax. Otherwise its £39 & £25, so £14 extra, * 3 = £42 for BRT.
But of course it works out better the lower interest rates comes down, and since they could still drop further, it could be a small amount of protection against further cuts.
Probably not worth arguing on the phone though unless you have filled every other option.0 -

I've set up the monthly saver but after a few days I still cannot set up a standing order - I am worried now as we are into October and wondering if they needed a payment in September. Will ring them tomorrow to see what is going on.Not Rachmaninov

I opened a 6% Flex Regular Saver at Nationwide last year, which I believe comes to an end in October.
Anyway, I thought the most you could move was £250 a month into it, but
it is letting me move much more than that.
I wonder if their system is getting confused with the new Reg Saver which pays 2.50% for up to £1,000?
Anyone else noticed this?0 -
I don't think the 2.5% RS is that new, from the site:-
Rates effective from 01/04/20090 -
I tried setting up the BoS Monthly Saver on the phone again today since online still said I had no qualifying account. Got through to their savings dept quite quickly (0113 242 2229) quite quickly. Same procedure as with TSB, had to endure a script but it felt less bad today. May be I just got used to it. So my Lloyds/BoS/TSB Monthly Saver collection is now complete.0
