The interest rate on the Lloyds Monthly saver, for those opening a new account, appears to have dropped to 4.55% today.

You are quite right! Okay, that earns instant deletion from my list. Gone now!

I have also done a quick update - all Yorkshire BS accounts and Britannia Home Saver interest rates down 0.25%.

My time on this computer is almost up - got to go! (In an internet cafe which only charges 50p per hour - not too bad).

No! noh, your news is shocking - Lloyds offering only 4.55% for newcomers to Monthly Saver. Clearly there will be few takers. Lloyds should try harder to encourage the savings ethic. Wonder if they have an alternative product about to be launched...Halifax bank some years ago made their Monthly Saver pay poorly, then launched the excellent Regular Saver. Yorkshire Bdg Soc likewise.

Okay, the only thing that I have changed in this week's update is that following a private message, I have added to the Yorkshire BS Internet Saver entry that it is possible to set up transfers to several external accounts. (Thanks for the info dougz.)

I have left the second post of this thread unchanged for the moment.

    Hello.

I would like some confirmation on this account.

I have a premier aco!!!! and isa account with this bank.

Am I right in saying that this is the best regular saver on the market? Or am i missing something, 12% fixed seems really good. I should be able to deposit the maximum per month for the 12 months, does anyone know what the amount of interest i would earn on this after the 12 months would be.

    thanks

I think it is, yes. Anything higher than this will have strings attached, usually in the form of GEB's

    ((£250 x 12) x 12%) / 12 x 6.5 = £195 gross (£156 net of savings tax)

Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news but it appears that the Alliance & Leicester Premier Regular Saver offering 12% is no longer available.
Its listed on the closed issue interest rate page, near the bottom.

    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/index.asp?page=closed-rates

It looks as if an ISA account paying 10% is now being offered to new Premier Account customers.

Note both of these offers were/are only available at the time of opening your Premier Account.

Thanks a lot. We were only recently discussing that account on these pages! I have now deleted it from the relevant post at the beginning of this thread.

Nothing else to add for this week's update. Have a nice week!

I'm off to find out if the WBBS account is still available today. The Magic 8 thread suggested it was a limited offer that started months ago.
