When is a late payment recorded as late?

I had a credit card bill due on the 30th of December. I like to pay them off manually (ie not direct debit) as I feel this gives me more control of my budgeting.
However, as it's Christmas and the new year period as it hectic, I missed the due date. I realised yesterday (two days later) and paid the balance as required. I spoke to the card company today (AMEX) and they said that's fine, it's gone through and they won't charge me fees and interest on the payment as I've never missed anything before and always clear my balance.
Is this going to be recorded on my credit history? I read online that it will be recorded if it's 30 days late or more, but I have no idea how accurate this is.

It depends on your lender. It can recorded as late from the moment the due date has passed. Others may have a grace period.
Check your files next month to see what appears.0 -
But a direct debit will be taken on the same date so why not just setup a direct debit and be done with it?0

Whilst everyone raves about setting up direct debits to pay their credit cards - not everyone is paying the bill from one source. I have three credit cards, paid from two different sources.. sole and joint accounts. A DD from one account would not work in my situation.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

9/10 its usually the statement date when lenders record and send data to the CRA agencies so as long as it before then its usually ok. Ive also heard it can be up to 30 days for some lenders aswell. All depends on the lenders.
Very very rarely ive heard lenders mark it at late if its not paid on the due date but that is extremely rare. Ive yet to hear of a case like this0 -

Plenty of creditors allow 30 days. My loqbox loan was 45 days GRACE period on each payment. My EE is 20 days grace, my 02 and 3 are 30 days. You will never see this in the terms and conditions, there is no specific date listed on there. Its just how each company reports to their CRA.
More often then not you can find this out on your credit files when they update each month. That is usually the date they are given but to be safe its usually the statement date. That is to be on the safe side, use the statement date.
Can you send me a few links to these threads - for my own curiousity as ive never paid on time for alot of my bills and usually always pay just before the statement date.0 -

Yes i agree with your statement about Loqbox. Ile ignore that. However all my phone provides allow at least 20 days before marking it as late.
Just did a google search as you requested and read a few threads. They concur with what i have written

How is a 14 year old thread and one that no one confirmed otherwise what happened relevant?0

I messed up a direct debit on a new American Express account recently, and asked when I called up (a day late) if they were willing to not put a late marker on my file. I was told that they allow seven day’s grace before reporting anything.0
