I love how you managed to get out. It seems that has helped you so much.

I’m so sorry things are so tough Buffy. Schools are stressful at the minute with everything going on and the need to still think we can be ofsted ready is a joke.

Huge hugs to you. Hope you’ve had a better weekend x

It really has, I have spent the past 3 weekends or so at home, trying to convince myself to get on with the house stuff but I just haven't.

I really did want the house done by now, but mainly due to the rain and the sheer amount of work from school it just isn't possible. But I didn't see why that should mean I wear a hair shirt and sit in the mess all the time.

Today is housework, downstairs isn't too bad xxx

  • I hoovered, mopped, did some washing emptied the dishwasher, went for a walk, bought lunch (£10.50). Mum said a few things, not terrible but enough for me to know where the conversation was going so I went for a nap!

The rescue can't take the rabbits, they have a waiting list of 7 weeks to even be listed as available. Leaves me a bit stuck. I don't want 6 rabbits. The expense alone plus I would never be able to leave the bloody house for longer than a night. I did some quotes for them on Insurance, 315 or 351. Which is admittedly cheaper than my current pair at 376, my new girl is 145 and my house bun is 264 BUT only partially insured hence the current debt.

That is a 1000 a year in rabbit insurance if I keep them. Each rabbit costs 69 pounds to vaccinate each year. £414. Plus 30 quid a month on hay, 18 on bedding hay.........

The poor guinea pigs. They don't get a look in. And I love them to bits. They are my first love ironically.

Also trying to bond all six, it doesn't bear thinking about. In fact I don't think the house bun would cope. My two have pooed all over the run to territory mark and it is a mess.

I just have a feeling that I am stuck with them and I do as you know love animals but six puts me in the crazy category. I am really not happy about it.

I am just talking out loud here, but I could bond the new two and mine, then have house bun and crazy knickers (her new name) could go in the smaller set up..... 41 sq foot, not ideal. but my little boy might not last....  and then the new girl could bond with the four..?? This is all so depressing. I got a phone call from the referral vet on Friday. Need to ring them back. See what is what.

  • In other news I have decided to do the garden myself, the gardener hasn't shown up or been in touch for over a week. I am sick of waiting for bloody men to show up!

  • I am now sitting here planning the garden.......I joined a really good group on FB about gardening and showed them a picture of the garden, they think I can do it. I have two raised beds, can make a new flower bed, and extend the others out, add some more compost in the main garden. Need to dig up a dead rose bush. Cement the walls, fix the walls. Maybe create some kind of arch....clematis.....take down the washing line. We never use it. Or turn it into a bird feeder thing. put the arch to the left. But that ruins the view.... hmmm. plant the magnolia, do some stepping stones. put the bridge over the pond (it belongs to the rabbits but is a sod to move around in there)

Buy lots of plants that come back like fuchsias, roses and Geraniums put bark on the beds (with membrane) and perhaps set up a water feature in my bit.

The garden project sounds exciting. I know so many people who are having problems with workpeople turning up. I think they are just really busy and swamped and unable to cope with the demand. It doesn't hurt to have courtesy though to let you know.

Big decisions about the rabbits though. I wouldn't get any more after these two. The first was fine as he had his own area to poo and never messed up the garden at all. Since we got the other they are constantly just pooing everywhere and spray wee all over the place to territory mark. I spend most of my life brushing up.

Have a good week Buffy. x

You certainly have a lot on with the rabbits. I know you love them to bits…..it seems very stressful though having so many.
Exciting plans re the garden……I’m also annoyed about workmen not showing when they say they will 😡😡😡 I think the ones I’ve had say yes to every job - try juggling and then can’t manage😡😡😡 I know there’s covid and self isolation thrown in the mix….but would a message of no show be so hard.

I can’t believe the gardener didn’t show up 😩 He sounded really promising too. I didn’t realise rabbits were so expensive to keep.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
