I start looking like Dennis Healy if I don't get my eyebrows tamed every 4-5 weeks and as my eyesight isn't good enough (and I get too squeamish trying), I have to pay a lovely lady to tug the little blighters into submission!!
KW's going away to another trade fair in a week or so, so I'm making the most of him whilst he's around - he's cooking our dinner right now, and has been trimming, laminating and backing stuff for me, to help me have less to do for school this week*Swoon* he's the perfect TA!

Can you send him round to do my marking. l haven't even looked at it yet. I am taking today off. lol.
No make sure you both enjoy yourselves. Hugs, swxxxAiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
I WISH he could do marking, that would be the ultimate! Sadly, the couple of times I've asked him to help mark things that were obviously right/wrong (e.g. spelling or maths), he's wanted to be so lenient that I had to fire him from the job! He thought I was a meanie....but I need to make sure that they do know that 2+2 = 4 not 5, 'because they could have read it wrong' (He wasn't that bad, but not up to my high standards!)
Today is going to be a NSD, phew! I've had a look at my finances and I'm officially £7.06 overdrawn, but in reality, I won't be once I get the rest of my child benefit (I get it weekly, the only benefit I've ever found to being a single parent!) and my pitiful maintenance from my ex. It's my mum's birthday next weekend, and we will need to find a lovely present for her and make a cake that she won't eat (diabetic), but that my daddy will love, but apart from that, I have nothing that I need to buy/pay for for a while, thank goodness!
I want to try and have the rest of the money available for our holiday to Welsh Wales by the end of February, £456.75, and then continue putting money into the wedding fund and, of course, the boiler fund!
Brrrr.....I need to go out and cover the car windscreens up as it's going to be another cold one, and I don't want to freeze my bits off in the morning de-icing the car.
I'm half-way through doing marking for tomorrow, and not quite there on the maths/English plans, I know what I want to teach, just not exactly what tasks I will get the little cherubs to do. Ah well, by the time I finish, it'll be dinner time and I can always finish it off in the morning, like I usually do!!0 -
Good luck getting the marking done!Live the good life where you have been planted.

I got all bar 5 books done last night, polished my maths and English plans this morning and felt pretty darned good!
Today has also been a NSD, hooray! It really helps, working in the back of beyond, in a village that has a church and a post box as the only known by me, facilities! I used to pass a Waitrose every morning on my way to one of my old schools.....I would spend a fortune on yummy fruit, salads and, yes, chocolate and other rubbish!!0 -

Gosh, I've left it a while between posts!
So....got to the end of the month £94 in credit, with clear credit cards and having saved £125 towards our wedding.
School is busy as always, and I'm wading through treacle trying to keep up with things.......KW's away for a few days, so am attempting to get stuck in with some assessments that are getting more urgent by the minute, and some planning which is urgent for tomorrow!
I've put £465 aside to pay for our holiday to Welsh Wales, but will keep it earning interest in my account until I have to pay off the balance in March.
We're still waiting for one of the companies to deliver us with a quote for the new boiler, but in the meantime, I'm now veering towards not replacing it until it gets condemned, as it were!1 -
Hi Kittikins, well done on being in credit and on saving for the wedding. I think it's a good idea that you are holding back on the boiler till it needs it. I will be in a similar position in the next few years.
Ps Im with you in the treacle. Roll on the weekend. lol. :jAiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Oops, been MIA for a while, now trying to see how this new-look forum works, and how I can see all of my bookmarked threads.
Over the past couple of days, I've lost my voice - which for a primary teacher is a bit of a disaster! Today I can only whisper, yesterday I could get the odd word out, and thankfully as we were doing workshops with other classes, passed over my bits to the other teachers. In the afternoon, though, I resorted to writing/typing on whiteboards, and the kids were so lovely - it was so cute though, they whispered to me as that's all I could do to themKW on the other hand, had a loud, firm voice (I didn't have the heart to tell him, my hearing's absolutely fine.....)
Money-wise, I finished last month not stressing about clearing my credit card, which was great, and this money is going well so far. I know, there are 3 weeks to payday, but I've got money put away to pay for our holiday in May and still have enough for everyday spends.
We're awaiting a new heating quote from the company we always wanted to do the work; we thought they'd gone out of business, but they're back and came over on Thursday to have a proper look. Fingers crossed it'll be the kind of price we can go for without bankrupting ourselves for too long! It'll be lovely to have a shower that actually has pressure after all this time.1 -
Glad to see you on the new forum Kittikins, I’m not impressed at the moment but hopefully they will sort problems like date & time of posts and getting to latest post without having to go to first page then moving to last page !Hope you get your voice back soon. I lost mine for 5 years after thyroid surgery and have had speech therapy which has helped so I know what the whispering is like 😉 Good luck with your heating quote. My boiler is over 20 years old but as its still working fine and I am likely to sell up within the next 5 years I am hoping to leave it for the buyer to replace. !0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
