Great news on your home insurance. I also reduced my costs this weekend.

Hi Cornish mum thanks for stopping by. Yes unfortunately not much about atm, if I'm honest it's really the first time we have had enough money to have to consider a suitable home for it.

Hi SH, great news, got to love a bargain. I have found your diary as you will have seen and will give it a read when I have finished SSS one. I like to read from start to finish if I can.

A tilly tidy of 5.37 paid to the mortgage today.
Spending this month has been quite high, we needed quite a big grocery shop after pay day but hopefully now will be smaller top ups until month end. Hubby has been doing decorating which has added up. I'm so pleased with the results though so it's worth it and he is making the most of the time he has which I  am greatful for and not complaining.
I decided to split the value of my mortgage down into rooms/spaces in the house so that I can work towards owning one room at a time. The first on my list is my living room which I will 'own' when my mortgage balance hits 144k. It is the room that has been decorated and when we 'own' it have decided to get new carpet and blinds to celebrate which are much needed and a lovely treat.

Love the idea of splitting mortgage into rooms, a nice way to be able to track how much you actually 'own' and a great motivator. Just tried to work it out for mine but unfortunately given my tiny house my rooms seem extortionately expensive!

    Hiya!

What counts as a room? Like, does the the hallway? Asking because I might steal the idea.

Loving that you are decorating, I love greys in a room. My carpets, skirting boards and doors are contrasting greys so loving the fantasy. What furniture do you have with it?

    I worked out rooms/areas as:
    Living room
    Kitchen
    Conservatory
    Bathroom
    Bedroom 1
    Bedroom 2
    Bedroom 3
    Porch and landing
    Drive and garage
    Back Garden
I  definitely more excited by some rooms than others but figure by the time I'm down to the least exciting onesy mortgage balance as a whole will be a smaller goal do easier to focus on.
We have a brown sofa with grey scatter cushions and black cabinets.
Killer peaty, how dark is your carpet? I want a grey but worried it could make the room shrink a bit.

22.43 paid to the mortgage today which was made up of a voucher I used from shopping and a rounded up payment for shopping.
I think amounts like this will really start to add up. This one has saved me 14 in interest and got me that bit closer to my target.
30.19 TT made so far this month.

Ooh, which is your most exciting room?

My carpet is sort of mid grey but it is speckled to avoid showing any biscuit crumbs. I don't find that it makes the rooms look small but the walls are a light colour (magnolia).

    Well done on your overpayment!
