  • Morning,
I've come on to here to vent if anything :/ .
Feeling pretty low this week in work. We've got a couple of new projects on at the moment that have been passed on to me as the boss is taking a further step back as each day passes. This is normally fine as I am able to crack on with what I know. These new projects though are completely new to what I am used to and I am out of my comfort zone. I simply don't have the skill level to be able to design what is in my head, onto the screen, if that makes sense. Each hour that passes by where I have made literally no progress just makes me feel even worse! My confidence is taking a massive hit.

I have tried to ask some questions to my boss but he doesn't have a solution, he just says 'ah just have a play about and see what you come up with', well I have come up with sweet FA after a week! I really am like a rabbit in the headlights at the moment and can't see a solution. I have tried asking some questions on forums, and have got some good answers, the problem is I don't know how to do what they are telling me to do, which is putting me in the hole even more. I know that sometimes you get thrown in the deep end and it's sink or swim, but I am feeling so demotivated at the moment that it is giving me no incentive to actually want to try and sort it out.

I think the fact that I have been on my own for 3 months in work and had to do everything myself is starting to take it's toll a bit. Everyone is due back in on the 22nd, so not long to go now, but I can't just sit staring at a screen all day everyday until they are back!

Anyway, I just needed to get that off my chest.

How’s it going today? Did you manage you get anything in your head onto the screen?
Won’t be long now until you get help from colleagues take some of the pressure off you.

    Hi @Parkyp

Thank you so much for checking in. Much better day today. I think everything just got on top of me yesterday and couldn’t see the wood through the trees.
  • Hi All,
Well I am feeling much more positive now than I was earlier in the week.
One thing I have been guilty of this week though is going out to get lunch in work, instead of bringing my own in! This needs to stop as it is both lazy and a waste of money.

In finance news, I had an email this week from mu uni saying I may be eligible for a one off £350 payment from the new Covid support grant that is available for students. I didn't think I would be accepted but filled out the form anyway, and it got accepted. So that will be going straight into my ISA when I get it in mid April. I have also chased a £50 cashback payment that I am due from when I took out income protection insurance. That should be paid this week and will go towards OH birthday next month.

Also had an email from the creditor who I am waiting for my last default from to say that as I had not replied to the default notice that they sent, then a default will now be applied to my account. So happy with that so will be checking my credit report the next time it updates.

Last day in work today for this week as I don't work Friday's :) Nothing much planned for this weekend, run tonight with OH as we are now on week 2 of the marathon plan. Enjoying it.

Wow 3 weeks since last update. Time flies when there's nothing really going on   :p
This month I have transferred my ISA, DD's JISA and pension to Vanguard. The fees that I am paying for my work place pension are 3x what Vanguard charge. I will still keep my old pension open obviously so that mine & employers contributions go in every month. Decided to transfer ISA and DD JISA both for lower fees and also so they are both in the same account. Really trying to streamline all my finances now so I have the least amount of accounts open. I have had my monthly ISA contribution sat in my account since 20th March waiting for the new tax year to open  :p It's more exciting than waiting for Santa!

I now have one less debt as I have paid the 3rd and final instalment to one of my creditors who gave me a 70% F&F.
Sent an email off to last creditor to default me chasing when they will actually apply default after saying they would and also asking/telling them that all my other creditors defaulted after 6 months (last July) and they should also set it to that date. Let's see what they come back with. So I am on auto pilot with all my debt payments, hoping that more F&F offers come through. Love a bit of haggling now that debt doesn't scare the pants off me ;)

I am very interested in the FIRE movement and have set my goal to reach my Coast Fire number as this is much smaller than my true FIRE number. I found a great spreadsheet online (I am rubbish at spreadsheets, hence why I LOVE YNAB) that I have filled out and based on my current contributions I should hit my Coast FIRE number in 3.5 years. This has given me great motivation as my boss is looking to retire in roughly 4 years so when that does come around, at least I will not be worrying about money and can make a decision about my future with out the added stress.

In other news, all the boys came back from Furlough last week and it really has made a huge difference to my mood. Just have people here to chat with helps break up the day. Plus I can delegate some of the workload ;). Next week we are all on annual leave for Easter week, I can't wait to get away for the week and rest (play golf ;)

So that's it from me. Hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend :)
