Life is for living but within your means. I think with almost everything being closed now it the time to save but when normality comes around maybe think about giving yourself extra pocket money to enjoy life but still saving some.
  • @joedenise the hash brows were a massive success. Went really well with the last of lasagne and homemade slaw. Going to spend tonight looking at some new recipes. Thanks again for the tip.

Hi, yes I agree with you. Only plans this year if we are allowed is some camping trips, so quite cheap. Now that I’m into investing and can see the power of compound interest, it’ll be hard to give myself extra pocket money knowing I’m robbing myself of compound growth. I’ve always had a ‘all in’ personality. It’s not healthy

It's about getting a good balance. If you feel you aren't missing out on the budget then go for it. You can always give yourself more once you can go back out again properly.

  • I DID IT!!!!
I made the £945 payment to settle my car finance off 3 months early. So happy with that :)
We celebrated by going for a walk along the beach. It is absolutely Baltic out there today but at least it is dry :)
Back to work for me in the morning which I am looking forward to. It will only be me in so nobody to pester me and I can crack on with what I need to get done. Great start to the week!

    Thank you!

    Yes one down....fifteen to go!
  • That's great news well done. One less monthly payment to be making. How are things looking on the default front? Are you still having issues with the one debt? How much is it? Would it be worth trying to pay it off if they aren't going to play ball?

    Hi Sarah,

Thank you, yes I’m really please the car is done.

Yes still having issues with that one debt that hasn’t defaulted. It’s my biggest debt by far too which is currently £11,635.62!! All my other debts have balances of £3k and lower. That last one equates to 50% of my total debt. They’ve added £1171 in interest since July!! Surely they’ve got to default me soon, it’s been 12 months since I last made a payment to them! Part of me wants to start making a payment to them so they freeze the interest but then the last 12 months would’ve been a waste?
  • First day back in work for me today. Well I wouldn’t call it work, I’m the only one in so I’m just pottering really.

I’ve bitten the gullet with my last creditor that is refusing to default me after 12 months. I’ve sent them a payment offer on the basis that they freeze interest on the account from now. I’ve read online today that this company do not tend to default accounts, neither do they sell them on, which is what I’m seeing too. So if they accept then at least the balance will start getting paid and hopefully after a period of time making the reduced payment, I can negotiate a settlement offer with them.

Now that my car is paid, I don’t want to be messing about not having something set up because it is a sizeable balance at £11.5k so they could seek legal action which I’d like to avoid.
