Amazon Credit Card good or bad?

I've just had dealings with New Day's Amazon Credit Card Customer Care Department. Through no fault of theirs, it obviously takes a while to jump through the automated hoops to get to the back of the queue, then a bit longer (!) to get through the queue - but the actual staff were UK-based (North) and could not have been more helpful, polite and caring. Wonderful.0

I'm about to cancel my card because they have taken the full statement amount despite payments being made into the account more than 10 days before the DD date. I have also just discovered that they allowed payment of well over £400 despite the name attached to the payment request being completly wrong! I now feel lucky that so far no fraudulent activity has actually occurred because clearly New Day would do nothing0

Making an manual payment doesn’t mean that your direct debit amount is amended.0

Yes it does. When I make a manual payment early enough in the statement cycle, then my DD is automatically amended to £0.00
I have a DD set up for the minimum payment, just in case I forget to make a manual payment.
I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
I love my job

With Amazon CC if you make a manual payment they DO NOT take a direct debit. However, other companies do not work like this. For example Santander CC always take a DD whether you make a manual payment or not1

Confirmation of payee deadline has been pushed back, so if you pay money to the wrong account then you can't expect the payment to be rejected just yet.I have also just discovered that they allowed payment of well over £400 despite the name attached to the payment request being completly wrong! I now feel lucky that so far no fraudulent activity has actually occurred because clearly New Day would do nothing

I'm not sure how that relates to fraud.
