What do we all think of the John Lewis advert? I love the message. Hopefully we can all give a little love this Christmas regardless of what is going on.
The ad that got me though was a company called Supervalu in Ireland... I cried! I am a big softie. Not a company I'd ever heard off just saw the ad on twitter.
All the board game talk has made me think I might ask for the game Mastermind
used to love playing it when we were younger. You had coloured pegs and had to try and guess the combo the other person had put together. Also used to love MouseTrap and Game of Life
I really wanted to treat me and other half to some Hotel Chocolat goodies for Christmas but the offering on their website is poor. Lots of bundles ...but not able to add individual items from those bundles and I'd prefer to make my own bundle up. Plus their postage is a bit expensive too. I will think about it as doubt we will get to one of their shops this year as we aren't local to one.
Hope everyone is doing the best that they can right now£2 Savers Club for 2022 #124 -
For anyone with grandparents or difficult people to buy for. I have just bought my grandad a hamper from Lottie shaw. They do tins of treats for £12.95 and hampers they are based in Yorkshire and their products taste delicious. You can choose to have your gifts delivered straight to recipients door for Christmas too.

I can imagine. B & M are one of the few places currently open where you can buy gifts suitable for all the family. Certainly my nearest store had a lot more in the way of Christmas stock, than any other retailer had. I don't Christmas shop in December at the best of times, so I agree it's likely to be mega busy when the stores can also open back up. Just glad I dodn't need to go.Treasurequeen said:Got some lovely window stickers online today which I will use to do window displays on all my windows. Ordered some napkins in a traditional picture type which were reduced again online. I do feel sorry for these shops that have their christmas stock but can’t sell any of it. There is going to be a mad rush when lockdown is lifted to go Christmas shopping. Went into b&m the other day to get some food bits and the Christmas aisles looked like banshees had raided it.4 -
It might be worth a look on Am*z*n as they have a fairly extensive range of Hotel Chocolat stuff, most on Prime and with free delivery.StokieBecks said:I really wanted to treat me and other half to some Hotel Chocolat goodies for Christmas but the offering on their website is poor. Stokiebecks - thanks for mentioning the Supervalu advert. I'd never heard of it either but I've just watched it. It's so lovely and yes, I cried too! It's definitely got the essence of Christmas.5

StokieBecks Hotel chocolat were running free delivery over £35/£40 (seemed to depend on what device you were on) and are also running discounts on certain spend amounts until tomorrow which may at least offset the delivery cost? I ordered some bits from there and tbh even factory in delivery, it was prob at least on par with what I'd have to pay for parking to get to store anyway.

The boy at the beginning of that ad, attends the same independant drama school my daughter does, just at a different location to where we live.StokieBecks said:What do we all think of the John Lewis advert? Hi all, just had a good catch up. I wish I could get on here more often but my weeks are so busy at the moment, every evening is taken up with the cross stitch picture I am doing for my MiL for Christmas, I’m feeling a bit under pressure as not only do I need to get it finished for Christmas but I need to get it finished in time to be framed for Christmas. It will be worth it when it’s done though.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with my Christmas shopping though, every year I say I want to be finished by December and fail miserably, this year I might actually do it! I’ve been having lots of parcels delivered in the last week or so – our spare room looks like a sorting office! I’ve actually bought our Hermes delivery man a family box of biscuits and a gift card to say thank you for all of the parcels he’s delivered to us this year, I know he works really long hours away from his family, gets paid a pittance and doesn’t get treated very well by Hermes. A lot of people moan about him around here and say he’s grumpy, I used to think the same but after a few chats with him he’s actually a nice, polite guy. It made me realise how it’s so easy to stop seeing them as real people with a story. Hopefully it will make him smile if only for five minutes in his day.
I managed to get a Christmas delivery slot with Tesco, so I’m pretty much booked up until the end of the year and I’ve ordered a Christmas book to read from the library so I just need to go and pick that up. I had an idea to do a 'theatre' afternoon with Wiggle. For the last two years we've taken him to a pantomime and obviously we can't do that this year, but he really enjoys the ones that Cbeebies do on TV so i'm going to get some sweets and popcorn like we have at the theatre, shut the curtains to give an atmosphere and watch the panto together. Not quite the same but should be a nice little activity to do!
I hope everyone is ok and enjoying some festive spirit, sending hugs to those who need them. xx
