I hear you, @Laura_Elsewhere. This is the slowest start to a year, knit-wise, that I can recall. Part of my problem is that the role I’m covering involves entering 200-odd timesheets - the worst last week being 76 lines long - and my arms are just too tired to sustain knitting for any period of time.
Part of the problem is postural; the rest is pure fatigue. I’ve been doing this role since Christmas. It involves 3 days a week in the site office - nearly 2 hours away - and 2 in my regular office. At site, I have a great chair, whereas I am struggling to find one that goes high enough at “home” to get my arms at a right angle. But the biggest help has been to get an old-fashioned copy holder in each office, so that I don’t have to bend over to read the timesheets off the desk. Before that, I’d end up with neck ache.
The new person starts on Monday, and I have a two week handover planned before returning permanently to my regular office. I’m going to attempt to get the details of the chair I have been using. If that fails, I have my eyes on a newly-vacated chair in my main office that I will be purloining. (I’m fussy. As a former typist, I like to sit high up but I need decent back support. Actually, all I need is an old-fashioned-style typist’s chair, with the small back, but they are incredibly hard to find.)

Good luck finding one - the right chair makes a huge difference.
And you have reminded me that part of why everything's been slow is probably because we're only 10 weeks or so into the year and four weeks of that I had my right arm out of action or very limited, after flinging myself down stairs that time. I feel distinctly less bad about the slowness now...

I had a really successful trip to a charity shop this afternoon. £21 spent, but two very large scarves, and two long blouses (M&S and Monsoon), plus a cardi from Coast. I couldn't resist a look in M&S later to see what I would have spent on just one blouse there.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

@Laura_Elsewhere, lovely jumper. Hope it fits beautifully now.
Did I mentioned that I was getting my sewing machine serviced? It was in dire need - full of dust and the tension was out. I picked it up this morning. Well, it turns out that the cause of the tension problem was the slider thingy in the bobbin housing. It was meant to have a pointy tip but mine had broken/worn off, compromising the tension. (I have completely blanked on what it is really called. It turns with the bobbin.). £128 well spent, including parts, labour and a new, padded storage bag to stop it getting dusty in future.

Morning all
Have finally finished blanket no.2, more yarn was needed and found a little treasure in Kings Lynn where they still had some of the discontinued yarn that I needed so bought all of that and a couple of small balls for my scrappy cat blanket (blanket no.3) as I have used up all my scraps.
Blanket no.4 to be started for the OH as he has decided he wants one. He has bought the yarn so nothing to declare for me, just need to decide on the stitch that he wants. (Hopefully nothing to difficult as still learning).
I also had a spend in The Fent Shop for some material. My niece has just had a baby and is mad on pandas, they had panda material so decided to buy some to make some dresses for the baby along with elastic and buttons. Some lovely bee and black and yellow stripe material also fell in my trolley for some project bags for my crochet makes.
8 coupons for the yarn and 6 coupons for the material to be declared. Looks like there will be no new clothes purchases for me this year as all mine seems to be going on yarn and material but I am happy with that.Sorry for my waffle but just being honest with everyone including myself.
Take care and hope you have a lovely day.
GMAT.Lost my way for far too long but now back on board to lead a more simplistic lifestyle

I have almost - 3 rows to go and some sewing - finished the baby sweater for my colleague. It’s a relief because I’d like to get back to the silk jumper I was working on and to start demolishing stuff in my queue. (I’ve decided that I desperately need a casual jumper to wear over other clothes - time to knit the Hobbit wool.) Today won’t be much of a knitting day. I will finish the baby sweater in a minute, while watching the end of Match of the Day (it’s paused), then tonight I’ll concentrate on taking up the trousers from my new suit.

Pip, you knit your Hobbit wool and I'll knit my Tiki jumper, which has sat half-done for weeks now... it's the one using wool I bought in NZ in 1987!
GMAT - like Pip says, it's what we're here for! And heavens, if we have to start apologising for long posts wittering on, then I'm going to be in trouble quite often...!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

You have all been such busy bees, you are putting me to shame - I have done NOTHING at all this year. Mind you, I haven't bought anything either. Wardrobe and chests of drawers are so full, I decided I'd better wear some clothing out first before I bought anything else.I will be buying sandals later on though, as I don't have any decent ones. Just not right now - car is proper poorly!Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.
