And finally finished making my new dark green-blue silky skirt. Everythng's going very slowly this year. That pink satin dressing gown has been on a hanger with its unsewn sleeve-pieces tucked into its armhole for weeks...!

I hear you, @Laura_Elsewhere.  This is the slowest start to a year, knit-wise, that I can recall.  Part of my problem is that the role I’m covering involves entering 200-odd timesheets - the worst last week being 76 lines long - and my arms are just too tired to sustain knitting for any period of time.

Part of the problem is postural; the rest is pure fatigue.  I’ve been doing this role since Christmas.  It involves 3 days a week in the site office - nearly 2 hours away - and 2 in my regular office.  At site, I have a great chair, whereas I am struggling to find one that goes high enough at “home” to get my arms at a right angle.   But the biggest help has been to get an old-fashioned copy holder in each office, so that I don’t have to bend over to read the timesheets off the desk.  Before that, I’d end up with neck ache.

The new person starts on Monday, and I have a two week handover planned before returning permanently to my regular office.  I’m going to attempt to get the details of the chair I have been using.  If that fails, I have my eyes on a newly-vacated chair in my main office that I will be purloining.  (I’m fussy.  As a former typist, I like to sit high up but I need decent back support.  Actually, all I need is an old-fashioned-style typist’s chair, with the small back, but they are incredibly hard to find.)

Good luck finding one - the right chair makes a huge difference.

And you have reminded me that part of why everything's been slow is probably because we're only 10 weeks or so into the year and four weeks of that I had my right arm out of action or very limited, after flinging myself down stairs that time. I feel distinctly less bad about the slowness now...

Yes, like one of those.  Trying to find one from the company’s supplier is a different matter.  (And the division for which I work has just been put up for sale....(long story).)

  • You have all been such busy bees, you are putting me to shame - I have done NOTHING at all this year.  Mind you, I haven't bought anything either.  Wardrobe and chests of drawers are so full, I decided I'd better wear some clothing out first before I bought anything else.
I will be buying sandals later on though, as I don't have any decent ones. Just not right now - car is proper poorly!
