Laughing at the sloe gin recipe; in this household I think we'd go through about 3 bottles before we got to put any sloes in as the DDs are very much into gin. And now DD2 has rediscovered knitting and is romping through not just my stash but also my stock; a large pack of vintage pure wool in a lovely teal blue has just been snaffled from my stock shed & vanished off up the stairs. She's doing a multi-strand blanket on 20mm needles for her new sister-in-law's birthday present.
PipneyJane, I will tell you when any of my fairs are up & running again, but at the moment there's nothing on the horizon until next spring, and that's just a "possible". I've earned next to nothing this yearbut I'm lucky enough to have a roof over my head and plenty to eat, so I'm still better off than many.

Whereas I loathe gin (it was my sister's preferred drink), and so in the years when I've made small bottles of sloe gin for family, and had half a mugful or so left over, it lasts for aeons and eternities because I only use it to clean windows and mirrors....2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

The party went well, and the projector and screen worked marvelously. I did, however, overdo it a bit on cleaning and fixing beforehand. My abs, neck, and posterior are still not happy with me. Here's hoping the chiro can help some with that today...

@TwibbleDee - well, I certainly enjoyed the party! Sorry I didn't come to say goodbye before leaving but there was such wonderful food, I just kept having "just one more..." and thought I should just leave before my clothes burst!

Thirded (is there such a word?). I had a lovely time (and food
) though I haven't seen so many ladies in nylons since 1939 and am quite envious.

Just as well I took the sausage rolls along to the party and not today's effort...!I made a golden-syrup-and-ginger cake for My Intended - first time of baking it and halved every quantity *except* the bicarb... eeek!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

You have my sympathies, @Laura_Elsewhere. The first batch of honey cakes I baked, a week ago, got a bit burnt on top, so I tried covering the latest batch with foil. Removed the foil after 35 minutes and lifted away the top of the cakes! Fortunately, they didn’t sink - thank the fan oven - but both have a dip in the middle. Oh, and they still burned. (I think that’s due to the honey/sugar content.). They still tasted lovely, though.

What a lovely party! I enjoyed myself hugely. Thank you, TwibbleDee !
And now, I can't stop laughing... was I hankering after needlecord? I'm now the proud owner of about 30m of the stuff, in a fetching shade of sludgy greeny-brown, with a twee floral sprig pattern... Circle skirt, no problem! The auctioneer's description was "a good quantity of fabric remnants" & I'd spotted a piece of vintage Laura Ashley in the box, so risked a bid; you can always do something with fabric...
So I went to pick it up this morning & ended up with an entire van-load of fabric. That box was only the tip of the iceberg, or possibly even glacier. There's some excellent stuff in there, as well as a lot of small bits which have already been spoken for by a trainee theatrical costumer friend. But - just let me know, if you need some coupon-free vintage needlecord...
