Thanks maisie. Yes, you're right, the hygienist is only using the old fashioned method so like the old scale and polish I expect. I'll report back. 😊
My DH has a filing cabinet in (what I call) his playroom free. It's an old one with shallow drawers that he uses to store his CDs. He had it sprayed black gloss with a few musical notes stencilled on. It looks good. I'll post a picture. 😊6 -
Congratulations Chanie, great news.
Freetodo, I know the "it might come in useful" thing. The problem is he can never find it! So it goes like this he has a doodah in case it comes in useful, so one day he needs a doodah but can't find it so he has to go and buy one but just in case he buys 2 so he has a spare. Now we have 3 doodahs somewhere but when the next day comes when he needs a doodah none of them can be found so he goes to buy one............... Well I'm sure you can work out the rest. Sorting out some stuff today I found his school cap, now he stopped wearing it at 15, the older boys didn't wear them and he is now 73. I really don't think we need it but it is vital to him.
My husband loved it when I got my radio licence, if there was a lift on and every one is trying to talk to the taxi driver in New York or wherever they are so much more likely to come back to a woman as we are rare, of course then DH would join in. It was funny when I took the exam, there was one side of the room with old men and the other side with young women, they showed me to a desk with the women and handed me a hairdressing theory paper. I had to be moved but they looked really puzzled at me doing the exam. I have to confess I didn't understand the first thing about it but DH coached me and I knew all the answers even if I hadn't got a clue what it all meant.
So the good news here is the carpet has come up better than I dared hope. The were two horrible worn down tracks, one from the door to the bed and one from the bed to the en suite, as I sad he sort of drags his feet so those areas looked so bad and now look very near perfect. I nearly didn't hire the shampooer as I thought it would be a waste of money and we'd have to get a new carpet, so pleased I took the chance.

LL thank you for sharing your story of tough love with your Dad. It had to be done and it made your Dad realise that he wanted to live some more despite his shock and grief.
Chanie Congratulations on securing yourself new employment. It has come at the right time for you and your family. The closure of the schools gave you a taste of being a stay at home Mum, but now that your children have returned to school, you can concentrate on your career once again.

Pixie - good news on the carpet. I loved it when OH took his morse code exam in Liverpool. I was 26 and he was 41 and I had a great time shopping in the swinging city of it’s time!!
Maman - Please do post a picture of your husband’s filing cabinet! Alas, our cabinets are the traditional grey metal 4-door Office ones😒

Well done Chanie on the job.My late Husband was a radio amateur too. I think he qualified about 1988. His call sign was G7DMS4

Sheila - your husband will be a “silent key”. My thoughts are with you. My OH was a radio amateur when I met him aged 25. He is now 79 (I am now 64). He built a Morse code sending device many years ago and it’s a beautiful and a lovely and decorative piece. I don’t know if it still functions as such but if he dies before me this is what I will remember him - a “silent” key. Even if your late husband didn’t pursue his Morse code qualification I think that’s how all radio amateurs are remembered by. Sending you hugs.5
