Just a quick post to say I'm really impressed with your DIY chanie. ๐๐๐
And I like your front door. It looks solid and classic, new ones often aren't. ๐6 -
Great job Chanie. ย Front door looks very smart.ย4

Brilliant job with the front door Chanie.ย I'm exhausted, GC are lovely but tiring.ย Felt very normal today, took them into the town beach, not our little local one.ย Lots of visitors arriving, things all opened up but sanitiser everywhere and everyone being sensible.ย It was very uplifting, the first time I've felt really normal since February.5

wow Chanie the door looks brill , I wouldnt replace thatย
Thanks everyone for the advice re the swimming , ill wait and see what they say when they phone next week , so watch this space, The only thing they seemed concerned with was the changing rooms as they only have 2 cubicles, Said that residents wouldnt be able to use them as they had thier rooms ?
Things not so good here at the moment but we keep plodding , My eldest GD has to go into hospital on the 24th , ( She's 8 ) Shes had a hearing problem since she was 6 and had grommits done , but that didnt help , so when she was 7 they did them again , and this time took her anenoids,ย ย still didnt help , so they referred her to the childrens hospital in Sheffield about 30 miles away. I went with them for her tests , and to be honest we all thought it was to discuss her having a hearing aid , but after the tests the surgeon dropped the bombshell that it was more serious , He said she needed an operation doing within 3 months , and if she didnt have it done ,it would go to her brain !ย A date was set , and then the virus came and all operations was cancelled. Weve now got this new date. The operation isnt without risk , as theyve got to remove "Stuff and bone " close to the brainย ย . Makes my stomachย go over just thinking about it to be honest.ย DG has got to go on Tuesday for a covid test before the op .ย DD has to drive to the outside of the hospital dead on 11am , they will come out wearing full PPE , and do the test on her , then she has to drive home . Not allowed in to the hospital that day ,ย ย ย I hate this virusย ................ย ย Lunaย ( DD ) loves Lego and ive bought her some new Lego to do to pass the time as shes got to isolate 14 days before and 14 days after, Poor little mite thinks shes going to have grommits done again , but shes enjoying the lego xx6 -
Fingers crossed that the operation goes aheadย mollย and covid tests come out negative. It's good that the NHS is starting to resume 'normal' service. So many people have been worried about procedures put on hold. โน๏ธ
On the swimming, many places are suggesting that you turn up with swimsuit under your clothes and then go home to shower and change to keep use of changing rooms to a minimum. Might that help? Although I do think places will be very hygiene conscious because their livelihoods depend on it and they don't want to be shut down. Let's face it, if 'wash your hands' is recommended then having a shower has to be even better. ๐ค๐6 -
Is it safe to be in a pool with people swimming close ?ย If anyone gets water up thier nose and starts sneezing we'll all be running lolย4

It's hard to know for sureย mollย as government advice is so confusing. I'd assume that any virus would be hugely diluted in the pool and that's assuming fellow swimmers were asymptomatic as if anyone felt ill they wouldn't want to go swimming anyway. It's always going to be a risk though, like all the changes to lockdown. ๐ค๐6

mollย I remember you posted about your GD and I wondered how things were. ย You will all be in my thoughts.
Thanks for all of your comments on my DIY. It feels good to know that I have used some of this time well. ย Interior design isnโt something that comes naturally to me.The front door looks good from the distance, but up closer itโs a different story. ย Itโs weatherworn, hollow and drafty and definitely needs replacing. ย I really want a composite door, but they are quite expensive. ย Iโm hoping that we may be able to benefit from the green home improvements scheme that was introduced in the budget.ยOH has a couple of days of work so we are looking forward to spending a bit of time together as a family and maybe even a little day trip or two.7 -
I know what you mean chanie. This is our front door (obviously from the inside ๐). It's the original, 100 years old and it's draughty and single glazed. As we live in a conservation area we'd have to change it like for like. I'd like to do that and also the dining room bay window (replace with bespoke wooden double glazing) but it would cost a bomb. โน๏ธ Maybe with all the money I've saved during lockdown.... ๐

Everyone's diy looks great, love the gallery wall Chanie! We took the plunge about 4 years ago with a composite door after the mechanism failed in our other. It's a good solid door, very secure and looks good too, we went for black, lovely glass panels and tarnished silver fittings.
