Perhaps we should do a poll and see how many recipe books most people have. I'm guessing but with SW ones included I think I may easily have about 10. Some of those were 'freebies' for buying countdowns... It would probably help my weight a lot more if I actually used them but then again syns were always my issue rather than main meals.

You always seem so good GAP at making money stretch. Have a restful weekend.

I don't have any - I just take the photos of the recipes I want and then get rid. I did have a few I never used until I started doing that.

Taking photos of recipes is genius! I have to sort through all my bookmarked ones first though :o Also means I should probably clear some of my old photos out too (which, to be fair, are mostly of the cat in various snoozing positions :p)

Glad you hear you're feeling better, but keep taking care of yourself! Good news on the CT too - hope they can sort out balance for you. Probably the best time of year to be doing it anyway, as I think councils tend to throw a greater proportion of resource at CT at this time of year :) I'm sure it will be fine, but good to have it confirmed, an extra reassurance goes a long way :)

ETS: slow at typing so cross posted :o I'm totally sure it will be fine, my online CT account takes a few days to reconcile itself so I'm sure it will catch up and work itself out.

I'll keep an eye on the CT account. Yesterday I received the incorrect demand notices so I guess I'll receive the correct one in a few days. Hopefully then the account will rectify itself.

I love your PD tales :)

Err....no....I don't think we should do a poll, unless it's anonymous. That way I don't have to admit I just counted and I have 38 :o:o recipe books  That's not including all the little recipe leaflets and booklets, and odd printed sheets that I've collected. I can see I have a problem in this area. I have my favourites so I should probably gift the rest to charity.

It's feast or famine in my house. We live like kings after payday then paupers towards the end of the month. I'm terrified of running out of money for food so buy less than I should just so that there's enough left at the end of the month.

I seem to have a food issue. This is eye opening for me. I really need to work on this area of my life.

I have a Bero one too. My Mum bought me it. I don't use it often but I would never get rid of it.

You sound very organised. Not including what I have already said about books, I also have at least 20 photos on my phone of recipes where I have done exactly that, taken pictures from magazines or other people's books. I also save links for recipes on Facebook.

Okay, so I have some food issues. This actually makes a lot of sense now that I'm thinking about it. I love recipe books and I love watching cooking programmes. I really enjoy cooking and I especially enjoy cooking for other people. I'm always worried about running out of money for food but because I have done in the past I think I can live without it for a day or too.

I'm lazy and I have to be in the mood to cook/clean/anything else that takes effort. I tell myself I'm conserving energy and that I can't afford to lose any more weight (true) but actually, if I got off my backside, did more and cooked more then the weight would go back on and my health would improve to a point.

When I get on the meal plan/shopping list wagon I do really well but climbing up there over those enormous wheels is such an effort that it's easier to not do that.

OMG this is awful. Not only am I admitting this to an open forum, I'm also admitting it to myself.

Right, I have stuff to do and I've been putting it off all morning. Time to pull myself together and become a better person.

Hopefully I'll get a wee hour later where I can have a look in my 39 (yes, I found another one :o it's in my bedroom waiting to be read in a pile of other books) recipe books and get back to proper meal planning.

    Financially yesterday:
    - I was out with the fam. Had coffee and cake and Mum paid :) so NSD
    - nothing much happening on the survey sites
    - bank account unchanged

    Financially today:
    - staying in today to get chores done so will be another NSD
    - nothing much happening on the survey sites
    - bank account unchanged

I have issues with food too
Only took me 50 years to work that out & they stem back to being in the PMR as a child. It was a treat to go to the cafe. Like a reward.
    Bah is all.

    Bah is all.

Mine stem from childhood too. My best friend at primary school was ridiculously thin. I was normal. I thought I was huge compared to her. I got called a name one day by her brother and I laughed it off. I've been in denial for years but, since today is my "confess all on MSE" day, I can now say that it has affected my life ever since. I think that some of my health issues have come from not looking after myself, which stemmed from that one comment which was meant as a joke.

The PMR isn't there anymore, it's a posh housing estate now! :)

  • Oi, am de-lurking to say less of the 'becoming a better person' lark. You are great as you are, and what you are doing is figuring out how to make being you easier and less stressful. Including regular feeding and rest .

More's the pity. It was an amazing hospital & a centre of excellence.
When I was wee children came from all over the world & were sometimes there for months with no visitors.
I on the other hand had visitors every day each time I was there & still screamed the plave down when they went home:(
