ITV player advert problems driving me mad

It might  be a bonus if sound disappeared only during the ads but the problem starts about ten seconds before the ads. It has now got even worse. I decided to subscribe to ad-free at £3.99 for the month and now there is no sound whatsoever. The ITV Hub is now unusable.

This is why Smart functionality built in to a TV isn't necessarily a good thing ... an external Smart device (Fire Stick, Roku Stick, etc.) is much more flexible, easier to keep updated, and cheaper to replace when required.

I'm having the exact same issue as the first post, just before the adverts the sound goes and then its gone through the adverts and then comes back after the adverts, but makes a few crackly noises in between. Its very frustrating. Its a brand new TV as well but its Hitachi, and I bought two of the same TV and they both have the same problem, so I could at least identify that it wasn't the TV that was at fault. I'm going to contact ITV to see if I can find out anything,but if anyone does manage to resolve please post on here. x

I'm having the exact same issue on a fairly new Panasonic TV, which if it happens across a range of different brands makes me think it may be more of a ITV hub problem than a TV issue, but very frustrating.

Exactly the same problem here.  I bought a brand new JVC in January and the sound loss occurs on ITV when watching through the F Play app a few seconds before the ads start.  It then crackles all the through the ads or looses sound completely.  Sound returns when the actual programme resumes.  Very annoying indeed.  Do we have any fixes yet please?

I also have problems with an Aldi (Medion) tv which freezes on channel selection but on ITV Hub loses sound just before adverts begin or crackles loudly, after contacting them they were really helpful saying it is a software problem that cannot be fixed on a few brands of tv and I have had  refund from Aldi 6 months after purchase, they say if you use a Firestick or Google (something ) to access tv it dosen't happen but worrying if you don't as its infuriating

Anyone manage a fix for this ? I bought a techwood 40" from AO last week and it does exactly as described. Breaks up before adverts then no sound.   Internet speed is 80Mbps so not an issue there tv firmware up to date, ITV HUB is unable to be installed as its built into the TV. Any suggestions would be grateful. THANKS!

It's more than likely an ITV issue - the ITV apps have always been rubbish. Try any other commercial tv app and if the same happens I'd be surprised (All 4, C5 etc.). I stopped using the ITV app on my LG TV over a year ago, just record everything I'm interested in now.

OMG. I thought I was going mad. I bought a 32” Toshiba TV on Amazon and had this exact problem. Just before and during adverts on the ITV hub the crackling and quietness occurs (it’s like nails down a blackboard to me) It was suggested my signal might be weak so I bought an internet booster by the same. I exchanged the TV and just set it up today crossing my fingers and exactly the same thing has happened again. I feel really stupid that I didn’t read this forum sooner before I went to the trouble of exchanging the TV (and I hope it doesn’t go against me as Amazon wanted to know the reason for exchange and I told them about ITV hub. Do we know how to fix it yet? It’s driving me mad!!!!

We bought a Bush TV in April and have had the same issue.  We returned it and bought a Hitachi and exactly the same issue. 
I contacted ITV Hub and have just received this response:

We are aware of this issue with the audio occurring on some Freeview Play TVs.

This has been raised with Digital UK (DUK), the developer for the Freeview Play platform. They are working on a resolution for this issue.

I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and thanks for your patience.
