Does anyone have a more specific timescale than "within 30 days" for the incentive to be paid? :)

Mine was within 4 days of the switch completing.

To get the £100 cash offer you need to open a 1st Account, switch your everyday banking to us using the Current Account Switch Service and pay in at least £1,000 within three months of opening the account.

This offer is limited to one payment per customer or joint account, and you'll get the money within 28 days of all criteria being met. Sorry, we can only offer this to people who haven't previously held an account with us,

Pretty sure that means 6 years...

Wonder if MSE will get the extra £25 again or not...

Nope, first direct appears to be for life, or their best approximation. I certainly got turned down for a new switching bonus after about ten years.

I thought that too, but was pleasantly surprised when I opened an account last February to get the regular saver. Despite bagging an incentive years ago (but less than 10), and also bagging their leaving present, I was invited to switch in for another incentive payment. I was honest with them and said I'd already received one previously, but they repeated I was eligible...and they paid me a couple of weeks later.

Does anyone know if they count an account with First Direct as a HSBC account? Sorry if it's a silly question as I'd be moving my FD account to HSBC to get the £175 switch offer and don't want to go through if I'm not eligible due to FD being a division of HSBC Bank..

They will if/once they've read the switching incentive T&Cs. See footnote 1.

Interesting, they said I wasn't eligible when I opened an account for the regular saver probably three or four years ago. I originally opened and switched an account from nationwide probably twelve years ago when nationwide had messed up several issues, but closed the fd account a couple of years later when their outmoded Internet banking became too annoying to use as my 'main' account.
  • I applied the last time this offer came up (November). HSBC dragged their feet and then asked for salary 'evidence' by a certain date. By the time this letter arrived that date had passed - so I wrote to them asking why on earth I would trust my money with such a set of foot-dragging *******s. Today I received an apology from their Head of 'Service Recovery' (whatever that is) and an offer of £100 for the delay and inconvenience caused. All fine and dandy, but had they been on the ball, I should have received £175 AND I see the offer is back on the MSE Tips page again today.
Do I take the 'compensation' and call it a draw, or try for the full £175? Or apply again and try and blag the £175 and the compensation as well? Decisions, decisions.
