And that is exactly why people in distress come here for advice, read something like that, leave and never come back. Your post is the absolute opposite of empathy. Have you ever considered a career as a Horror novelist?

So you really believe that in prime school holiday season, someone claims that they sold £20000 worth of stolen tickets on Ebay FOR A YEAR and only just now got caught and chased for the money back? And they started this "business" through Snapchat and the OP doesn't know anything about the person stealing the tickets?

I have, and am more than happy to continue providing help and advice where I can. But the OP is clearly just making nonsense up. This is my view, of course, but I'm not the only one to think that.

In the incredibly unlikely event they are being genuine, hopefully they go to prison for a while, just like the guy caught abusing his season ticket did.
  • Railway companies absolutely hammer people for fare dodging. They prosecute them and generally they receive massive fines and sometimes even prison sentences for relatively low amounts.
Given that you’ve personally made £20k from this fraud we can probably assume the real sum is likely double that.
I would not like to be in your shoes because you will most likely be going to prison soon.

  • Can we just forget about the fraud part of this - no help whatsoever to the poster. The criminal will take its course.

The poster wants to know what to do about the debt - which he will be left with regardless of what happens.

OP - at the end of the day no one can make you pay what you do not have.

Do you have any assets? i.e. a house with equity in it

The paypal debt has been well covered on this thread and as per the other responses on the thread, there has not been a single bit of evidence produced on any forum yet to suggest that ebay have taken anyone to court- and unless they do any house the OP has is safe. It doesn't mean the debt is not payable, it just means it is unlikely the house is at risk.

I rather suspect though that we won't be hearing from the OP again.

Reading this thread has cheered me up a bit as I have a debt of £2514 with Paypal Credit which Wescot have been sending me letters about.

Good to know that it's unlikely to be taken to court etc... do Paypal ever sell debts to DCA's???
