Basically the guy was looking for someone to sell for him as he didn't have eBay or PayPal , like an idiot when I think about it now I got excited and thought easy money and didn't think it through. Honestly details I have absolutely nothing as I only talked to him through Snapchat as that's all he had. When I think about it all now I was very very dumb. I paid him through bank transfer

Looks like it was a definite scam. The seller saying he has no paypal or ebay account and can only chat via snapchat makes it more obvious.Bank transfer transactions says it loud and clear.

If there were any legal charges it could be 'conspiracy to defraud' even if you claim innocence.

So you were selling fake train tickets ? You need to wait and see if charges will be made.British rail usually take things like this very seriously.Did you spend all of the 20k ?

It's a shame it was rail tickets (I'm sorry , that sounds like a really odd thing to say!), it's just that as above rail companies take fraud very seriously and do like to make an example of people. However, at the moment I wouldn't worry about that as it has nothing to do with the debt, which is a different matter . The debt is the debt, defrauding BR or a n other rail company is a separate issue and may never come to anything as it might not have got that far.

I still can't see how this continued for a year though

Yeah spent it , on paying off my credit cards mostly

British Transport Police are investigating and when I think about it there's nothing that's gonna help me with the case as its literally just my word

unfortunately our posts crossed - if BTP are already involved then you might want better advice about that aspect of this fraud. Perhaps find a specialist transport lawyer who might be able to give you some basic free advice pending any action.

The debt though is still a different matter and you need to handle both problems in a different way.

Was the person from the UK ?

The other thing to note of course is that paypal have a policy that a newish seller, or an existing seller that suddenly starts selling something out of their normal sphere would have funds held for 21 days against fraud. That makes it unlikely that the events are exactly as stated here and if OP has got himself into an issue with both BTP and paypal/ebay I would urge them to give a more accurate account of the time line and circumstances.

Without an accurate account no one is going to be able to help.

My funds originally were being held and only after the buyer left feedback or certain amount of days passed it was released.

I'm not making any of this up, I don't know why people are assuming I am. What gain do I have from making things up like this

BTP will do their thing and charge me, If that means going to prison. When I got arrested i was having panic attacks and they put me in a cell and had a mental health nurse come talk to me ...that same nurse after I was released got in contact with different services to get in contact with me and now I'm having councilling and proper help which I didn't know existed. Getting arrested was actually very good for me as I got help

I just need to find a way to sort this PayPal stuff out , and I apologise if I sound fake and feel like I'm not being honest

I assume when you were arrested you were offered a duty solicitor , what was their advice? It is unlikely that the duty solicitor could do anything more than just get you out, but did they suggest where to go for help at all? If not you do need to sort yourself a specialist lawyer , depending on how Far the criminal prosecution has gone this could well be extremely urgent.

Whilst I don't want to downplay the debt part, getting the legal side sorted should be your priority .

How did you meet the person who sold you the train tickets ? You need to pass all of his/her details onto the authorities.
I am just amazed you were allowed to trade for over a year without getting 'pulled' earlier.
