I really don't know what to do and pay them back - due to the arrest I lost my job so currently unemployed and my wife is paying for everything and it's not fair on her hence why I think I'm better off gone but what will moorcroft do , I know it's my fault In a way but I genuinely didn't know I was doing something wrong but no one's going to believe me

I am sorry to hear of your situation, however, killing yourself won't help your wife, imagine how that will affect her life? Also suicide can affect any Life Insurance payouts. Are Moorcroft a Debt Collection Agency? Have you spoken to them? Though it sounds a large amount, it's not insurmountable, unless you have current additional debt?0

Someone has obviously taken you for a fool. There are lot of people out there who look for people to sell items for them and face charges once they get found out.0

Moorcroft are just a collection agency, debt is owned by PayPal still.
Moorcroft cant do anything basically as they don’t own the debt, PayPal never take legal action, but as it’s 18k, they may make an exception, or sell the debt on.
They cannot take what you don’t have can they, usually the bigger the debt, the less chance a normal joe has of paying it, so it’ll most likely end up getting written off.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. OP can you not start action against the person who you purchased tickets from ? Did you pay via paypal or bank transfer ? I have a gut feeling it was the latter.0

Unfortunately this is the truth, virtually any day of the week I see adverts on facebook looking for people with good paypal accounts to earn 'thousands' working from home selling things on behalf of a third party. I suppose to most of us familiar with paypal it looks an obvious scam, but to someone a little more naive, or unsure about online selling it is probably easy to be caught.Selling fake tickets for a year, highly unlikely you'd have got that far.
I've never known one of these scams to work for more than a few weeks- as ebay are involved the most it could have worked for was 30 days , I have no idea if this is genuine how it lasted for so long.
OP, unfortunately you are liable for this debt as the paypal account was in your name and ebay have sold the debt to debt chasers, your only recourse is against the person who fooled you- and I accept that is now unlikely to be something you can do. If you don't pay then the debt collectors will harass you, but actually that's about it - so far no one has shown any evidence that they go to court , although yours is a bigger debt than normal so perhaps yours will be the test case.
Even if they don't chase you excessively for this the debt remains yours and should be paid, and assuming you cannot do that then obviously you will no longer have access to either ebay or paypal, nor will anyone that ebay consider you associated with.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
