🙁 Just got screened out of a survey for today NOT being a bad hair day - couldn't have predicted that! And that was after getting through declaring that I use Lidl shampoo and conditioner (which I thought would be sure to cause me to get chucked out 🤣)!
Pondering whether to include cashing in Nectar points in the free money stats? It's money I get for (almost) nothing, so I think that counts? In which case I'm on £54.89, with another £2.50 to cash in next week 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Happy Sunday all 😀 Great to see so many new diaries starting up, as well as some returning from breaks. You won't get so bored of my waffle now, as it will be interspersed with sensible, well-thought-out plans in other peoples' diaries and I will be like your eccentric maiden aunt by contrast 🤣
We have hosted some of BF's wealthy relatives en-route home from a trip away (I can't recall them ever holidaying in the UK before). During a conversation about self-checkouts and me mentioning that they have different voices in Poundland it was clear that they've never stepped foot inside there; and when I left to come home and said I was going to Lidl it prompted a discussion about how much they could never shop at Lidl (the most interesting comment being "I don't like the smell in there" - cue me taking a great big sniff as soon as I crossed the threshold to see if I could smell it too - I couldn't!) Oh well, different strokes and all that 🤣! BF also sent me home with some leftovers, so I don't need to apply much brain-power to tonight's dinner 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Oh my days! I just had this sudden image of Victorian times with all us mere peasants shopping in Lidl making it smell and all the lords and ladies in waitrose, where it smells of roses 😂
Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.

Maybe they've mixed it up with Asda. I have one I won't visit because of the smell - all the others are fine.

They did make me feel like a peasant! And I doubt they would step foot in Asda either (and I went there too after Lidl 🤣!) I just don't get why you would want to spend more money on exactly the same thing?Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Never noticed a smell in Lidl, but they do always seem dark and dingy!
There are many reasons not to shop there though - they might not sell certain items, meaning another trip elsewhere; they might prefer to have it delivered (especially if they’re too snobby to shop for themselves!); they might have strong ethical principles - the stuff in Lidl/Aldi is more packaged than elsewhere and there are fewer organic or specialist options...
However, it doesn’t sound like any of these are the case in this instance!! How rude!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Or perhaps it’s because they don’t have a café and that’s their guilty pleasure! 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
