That sounds fab, wonder if they had to do a conversion when we switched to decimal money 🤔? My lease is a bit like that (although on a much less grand scale). I must re-read it, although I do recall I'm specifically forbidden from beating a mat out of the window 🤣 I wonder how long ago people stopped beating mats?
I occasionally still thwack our door mats against the outside walls - does that count? :D

I think it actually said something like a total of £20 divided between xxx houses equally or something, and then there were records from when Mr Cheery first bought the house in the early 1990s. A little old man used to come round and collect 50p off everyone, and mr cheery still had some of the handwritten receipts. Old man died, and nobody bothered collecting after that - when we moved the solicitor had to try and find them but nobody ever made a back claim for the last 6 years of ground rent 😂

I haven't beaten a mat in a while, but I do have a reusable bag inside Henry Hoover so I do beat that outside regularly- makes a right mess and I certainly wouldn't have done it in our old house! 😮

I beat doormats still... usually against the wall of the garage though, so not out of a window or with an implement!
