5.00am 😮😮😮! That's when I used to get up on days with a long drive! Thank you, that makes me feel a bit better x
I'm feeling a bit cheerier now, the man from the jobcentre was very nice and they'll give me until November to focus on getting something at the same level before they start pushing me to apply for anything and everything, which is probably a similar timescale to what I would have set for myself. I've also done something off the to-do list and closed two credit cards - should have been three, but I got stuck in a loop on the phone with Barclaycard and had to send them a secure message online to ask instead (which meant trying to remember my login details, as I have never used the card and thus never logged on - turns out the memorable word was BF's Christian name 😍). I'm now down to four cards, shortly to be three when they pick up the message. When BF pays off his next year it will be two, and I'll hang on to the one with the looong 0% on purchases offer for a bit in case the sh*t really does hit the fan and I run out of money 😮 Wonder when they'll be dishing me out platinum cards again!?!?!
Oh, and I've applied for the two jobs I saw yesterday 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!7 -
Glad to hear you're cheerier today. It's always an up and down process. But you are prepared and taking action which is a lot more than those who aren't prepared and are blindsided by layoffs. I hope you find something soon and congrats on closing the 2 CCs.Mortgage start date Dec 2015 - $64,655.00
Mortgage end date Dec 2045 - NOT!!!!
Mortgage balance - $4600.00
Business Savings $43,310/100k
Hope to be mortgage-free by end of 20235 -
@South_coast Having seen my OH deal with the DWP over the last 3 years, I can confirm that not making sense is par for the course. Regularly insisting on documentation before the date on the letter asking for it was a favourite.Choose kind5

Re the jobs your sister sent, I would consider applying anyway. There's good evidence that women tend to only apply when they fit 100% of the criteria while men will when they fit 50% - it's one of the contributors to the gender pay gap and women's slower progression. You might as well go for them if they appeal - you really haven't got anything to lose except the time spent applying. You're doing really well though, from the sound of it. Tough position to be in.11

Great to see you still steaming ahead, slaying CC, decoding JS letters, decluttering and applying for jobs!
Have you thought about a side hussle - maybe wine ice cream?
I'd second Viking and greenbee - job adverts are usually just a wish list, no harm in applying. If it's not adding up, compound it!7 -
Ooh, lots of visitors! Thank you all, I feel better this evening, think I was a bit overwhelmed earlier. I've just re-read the job ads and I definitely couldn't do them, one asks for membership of a professional body relating to health and safety (nope) and the other wants experience of liaising with the fire service (nope). Think I may have been a bit broad brush when she asked what kind of thing I was looking for 🤣! I am definitely trying to think outside the box (a necessity when I have spent the entire time since graduation doing exactly the same thing), but with so many people looking at the moment I have a feeling that most vacancies are going to have an applicant which is EXACTLY right for the role.
In other news, Barclaycard have closed my account (but rather than send me an email to say so, they sent me an email to tell me they'd sent me a secure message, which I then had to log in to read, which said that they'd closed the account 🤔), and I've just done a survey about cheese!!!
And Grogged, turning wine into ice cream would be a terrible waste 😱😱😱Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
