There's no issue with the paper licence, I for one will miss it when it goes. It's like an old friend:rotfl: plus you don't need to renew a photo every 10 years.

I use my passport photo which is linked to the DVLA so the photo gets renewed that way as the passport needs to be renewed every ten years anyway.

My driving Licence expires in 2024 (aged 70) I only have a paper one, when I renew it will I get a Paper Driving Licence back or will I have to suffer having a photocard licence.
How will this suffering manifest itself? Physical pain, or just mental anguish?

In that case, look on the bright side. Next time someone asks you for photo ID to prove who you are, you will have a handy card with your name and photograph on.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

A friend of mine was denied car rental at San Francisco airport because he had a paper licence; even though it was valid, there was no photograph on it which seemed to be unacceptable.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
