Is there anything you fancy doing part time that would allow you to leave your main job but still keep some additional income coming in?

Alternatively, if there was a redundancy programme timed with when you hoped to retire anyway that could work in your favour... I've know some people really land on their feet that way.

    up early again

so SH no redundancy is likely - I did used to hope, but that's very negative. plus I may have mentioned once or twice we are quite busy and focus is on growing not shrinking/making cost savings.

my view is to stop my main hustle (possibly after a little part time, but probably not) and then if it all gets too much being at home all the time or I need more income I might look for something, but not planning to find something else as a transition job - even the likely vacancy at No 10 doesn't tempt me

A super early start today and just finished counting down the hours of my last half day of work in 2021 - so I now have 18 days until I am back at work (2 days in lieu of weekend working, 3 bank holidays and 7 paid leave) nice and MSE

Enjoy your break. Well deserved I'm sure. It's felt a long working year for many of us I think.

That’s a lovely long break Mark. Am I jealous? You bet! Am I pleased for you? Absolutely.
You’re right @savingholmes it has felt like a long working year, although at the same time the year has kind of flown by

Time has truly flown by and such a rate its not true.  Even though sometimes it seems like all I've done is work and watch TV (and do spreadsheets)!!

Will still be busy with domestic chores pre Christmas day so I am really looking forward to the week after xmas - that is my favourite break time - doing lots of resolutions and calculations and a wee dram (I always get at least one bottle of whisky a year, and I probably drink less than one so I have a collection to clear - will save them for a hobby when I am retired maybe!

Spreadsheets are fantastic.... spoken like a fellow nerd

I'm with you on how many domestic chores there are to do before xmas... True relaxation happy for me after I've seen wider family. I can then relax.

Chores going well - on a good trajectory to be mostly complete by the big day.  Tree's up, respectable amount of presents under it.  Curr1es excellled themselves and got DD2's combined birthday/xmas present to us well in advance of schedule and that was the last big thing due in

Motivated by my whisky mention I did a stock check, and I do hope I don't get anymore this year as I am sitting at 5 full size unopened bottles and 5 opened but mostly full - a blend of malts, and irish blends. plus one welsh which I am suspect will taste of  seaweed - not entirely a bad taste, but I have a full share of the others.

That's 320 units of alcohol, not counting the gins, rums and vodkas which have been skulking, unwanted, in there for years.  I average about 4 units a week only occasionally more - so that's going to take ages to clear.  Ah well the liver is evil and must be punished so I will, reluctantly, just get on with it.   Your challenge will be to to spot which side of a large dram I am posting from

This has not been a MSE household for the last few days but I see a bunch of Low spend days ahead and can you spend anything on the 25th - I very much doubt it!! so may make at least 1NSD for the year
