Great news for DS, good luck to DD. They're really making people jump through hoops at the mo, sounds positive that manager wants to hire her, in my head HR 'advise' (I'm not a massive HR fan
), but the manger has ultimate decision making discretion

Yes - nearly there. DS1 starts Monday
I agree about HR role, but sometimes they can make it awkward. Fingers crossed as DD2 is thoroughly fed up with being a young person in today's Britain - aggressive Landlord, useless agency, energy bills disproportionately impacting the less well off, and a disorganised boss and pressure to cut corners/ethics. A bit of good news would be great. She has one of her besties staying over for a week while her flatmate is on holiday so that should lift her spiritsI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Completely agree on what an HR department "should" be often being disproportionate with how they behave!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Any news on DD's job, hopefully good news?
Agree... whenever I've had a run in with HR at work, I've found them rude and unhelpful. Not for generic stuff, but the big stuff where you're hoping for support and they're patronising.
I remember one conversation at my old trust when I was trying to reduce my hours after DC4 and they basically said 'if you don't like it, leave. You're entirely replaceable' and my manager was like 'actually, not really... we're really short staffed and noone ever applies'Manager overruled and I got the hours I wanted, but I'll always the remember the conversation as I was sitting there thinking ' F you, you grumpy moo'

Yes good news is she starts new job Monday. Old job were shocked, and started trying to buy her back with extra hours and pay. So proud when she said, "well you should have thought of that earlier if you thought I was worth it"I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

OhSh... I wish I could say I was surprised at that, but really not! The last big firm I worked for were shocking - HR didn't want to know about stuff like impossible levels of stress being loaded onto people, others not being treated equally etc, and would pretty much just keep their heads down - the only things they were interested in was disciplinary stuff really. One very good reason why I decided a while back that small, friendly little firms were my destiny from here on!
Mark that's wonderful news about DD - and absolutely 100% good for her in telling her old lot what she did! Might make them think! Consider me to be giving her a standing ovation for that one from here!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
