2020++ - smiling and waving and looking so fine

Hello - another 2 weeks gone by. Still at work (ie not retired), still walking (steps quite good), still overweight, but level since last report. For work, I'm thinking of part time, but just want to finish this project expected to last 6-8 weeks then will have a proper think.
Have now cleared the CCs (all of them). I was getting a little stressed at how quickly we were spending - at the end of the day OH's inheritance is a nest egg not a pot of gold. So anything we spend now, we can't spend again in the future, but it was quite nice to do a few long weekends and not really worry about eating out a little, and we did some stuff with and for the kids. I did think about stoozing the CC as they were at 0% but just wanted it clear. I will close them down except CC1 and 3. CC1 for big spends to get the protection and CC3 as its from from my bank account provider so easy to use for work things and minor juggling (I know I shouldn't - it just will happen).
I had a think about whether I should close the diary as all my objectives are achieved except actually retiring, but the pensions board is about planning for retirement, and the over 50s board is not really a dairy board. So I decided to keep going until my final pay slip. We are stuck with each other for the forseeable, if you are all cool with that. It does feel odd being on a DFW board without any debt, but home is where the heart is.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

The other thing I need to do is declutter all my Regular Savings. As they mature they usually turn into normal low interest savings accounts. So I now have 3 or 4 all with 47p or some such, and one has a couple of hundred in it. Its just so hard to get through and cancel them. But not good to have such a mess so wish me luckI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Good to read your update.
I have always appreciated your postings generally. Personally you have helped me see a different perspective and at key times, offered good advice. Of course, you must do what feels right. But I for one would miss your contribution to these boards. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

I would miss you too.
It is nice to see what unexpected events occur with other people's grown up kids, and therefore, what I need to plan for financially that is not even on my radar .
And because of your advice I started my SIPP 2 years ago, which is ticking along nicely.

Morning @mark55man I feel that the over 50's board could be a diary board if more joined. I chose the over 50's (despite being over 60) because I was somewhat intimidated by the amount of money discussed by the majority on the pensions board (good for them, no judgement on my part). I felt that my efforts in semi and now perhaps full-time retirement, continue to be centred around saving a little money here and there.
That said, this thread is a so supportive, I can well understand why you may not wish to move. The knowledge that I have gained from this thread, together with many others over the years, cannot be underestimated and I therefore feel that we need to post where we feel comfortable at the time. Hopefully some who reach their goals and become debt or mortgage free will then feel that the over 50's board meets their criteria and will eventually join me, @ulramaid and @ShyAndRetiring.
Great to read that your steps are still quite good, that your weight loss remains level, and congratulations on clearing all of the cc's. A bit of your time, with a cuppa, and you will soon have those regular accounts sorted.

Aww thanks everyone for your support
The unexpected things my kids do as (not so) young adults is an eternal goldmine of stories which will keep me posting for a while.
I will keep going - I enjoy reading and helping and it would feel a bit voyeuristic if I wasn't also contributing. Community is about doing things together, even onlineI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Long time lurker, I enjoy following diaries of debt free journeys and those that are debt free and the rewards of being so. As you say “home is where the heart is”3
