Good to hear you're getting back to the gym. Incremental improvements are all you need to be aiming for with cardio. I enjoy doing interval training much more than slower paced steady state cardio exercise. You need a good mix of strength, cardio, interval and steady state for the cardio days really. Currently my Mrs has got me on this schedule- strength training: x2 upper, x2 lower, x1 core. x1 yoga, it's good for my slightly !!!!!! brain - you probably won't need that. Cardio: x2 steady state running, currently a steady 5km @ 10km/h and x1 interval run 30s max, 30s jog. It's a good mix if you're serious about getting into fitness.2

thanks all
impressive regime alt80 but I am a long way from there but my eldest tells me cardio alone is a fools errand so I will try and add some variety in when I am convinced it wont kill me

Glad that you got decent results from your efforts on the elections front.
Well done for revisiting the gym. Definitely need to add weights in - and something for flexibility. I can talk the talk - but haven't set foot in a gym either for a very long time.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@mark55man you're only 'competing' with yourself in the gym mate, don't worry about me or what anyone else is doing. Yeah, ideally you ought to add some strength training into the mix especially at your age (sorry) but cardio only is better than nothing at all!2

Hello, I'm back from a lovely holiday with my brother from a different time zone. Have been spoiled rotten, and enjoyed myself enormously.
Back 2 life, back 2 reality. This month busy with the general election then I will enjoy the rest of the summer catching up with all the things I need to do on my sabbatical.
Lucky my holiday coincided with no mow May as otherwise I would have no excuse for the jungle outside my front door!!
Just off to catch up with all your newsI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

just a quick report back
- Steps year from 1/11/23 (when I got my new step watch) = 899000 = 110000/month = 3700/day - not great but OK
- Weight -12lbs since 1/1/24 so now 244 from 256. Pleased with that as ate a lot on holiday
- Money juggling is difficult with DD and DS needing support as they both move house, but there's enough in the pot to see me through although having to juggle a bit as my timeline for releasing money from savings isn't quite rightI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Well done on the weight loss. Rarely an easy task. I was doing well but mine is inching back up currently so need to cut back.
Good luck with setting the right boundaries with the kids.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
