I know what you mean savingholmes,a normal shop for 5 adults and young adults looked a lot like panic buying, butwas just replenishing - freezer is fullish so am running slightly higher on stocks than normal but still only a weeks worth before we get old style. It was like shopping before MSE - just taking what I could without really bothering to check the prices and with only a vague meal plan in mind as all plans were useless. mostly staples were gone ie eggs, but milk and cheese in good supply. prices seemed to have gone up and no special offers so this month's groceries bill will be high - already at £500 but did do a big shop on 29/2 that didn;t show up in my account until this month so not totally terribleI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I agree food prices for some things definitely higher. Drinks are normally on offer around mother's day but were still full price. We have been able to get the food we needed which was lucky as we've had to self isolate already due to DH exposure to someone with the virus. Thankfully we all seem okay.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Day #3 and #4 WFH accomplished. As I entered my 4th hour of telephone calls OH gave up her pottering alongside me and went into the kitchen for a coffee, a 4 way whatsapp call with her besties and some crafts from her stock. Much hilarity and completely free!. It's cost neutral for me working or not as although not every trip is covered by the company enough are that it doesnt really cost me anything, I'm loving not having to drive, but my home work place was designed for occasional days out of the office not a full on session so a bit uncomfortable really., and as we're totally open plan downstairs and cluttered upstairs we all have to bump along together
popped out to local tescexpress just now, as I needed to move the car for DS GF who had work, and picked up some ready meals, and odds and sods - there were 2@ 9x andrex tp, and I did have to think twice about buying one of them as we only have 16 left from our pack of 24 we got before all this nonsense. (I didn't buy them by the way that would have been selfish)

woke up early as I did my usual Friday night snooze. Have done a quick whizz through the kitchen tidying as OH has plans to reorganise the cupboards / fridge / freezer to make sure we don't waste any of the food we have. generally we are pretty good, but every now and again events leave us with a dish we didn;t make and even though we are quite tolerant of sell by dates, sometimes its too risky!!
however, now that all events in the UK are pretty much cancelled we should be able to plan a bit better, and as I will try and WFH a bit more, I can do my share more easily - so currently reading through a Keto recipe book that OH got as a treat, and trying to put off breakfast until I have a meal plan for the weekend!!
have a good weekend everyoneI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I have been back a few days and I have not seen TP anywhere whenever I've been out. I still have some and a few boxes of tissues but someone in my area must be storing it in their garage! Crazy times...
You sound like kept is working well for you. Great stuff.
Have a peaceful weekendIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

yes - managed to walk 10,000 steps today, after dropping car off for its MOT and then back again to pick it up. I hadn't done that many for the previous week combined - so I feel better for that. Doing a social distancing walk trying to keep 2m from everyone, but some b**gers were just mainlining up the middle. They got a very hard stare.
Keto is working really well, as I said before - I just am not feeling very hungry, and believe I am not eating too many bad fats. Lost another kilo this week, and eating quote well - mainly from fresh but a few ready meals which are not too high carb. I am now nearly down to 17st which is still a lot, my first target is 100kg = 220 lbs = 15 st 10 so a bit to go. My dream target in under 200lbs which I haven't been since I was in my 20s but that's another 3st and a complete new wardrobe away
MOT wasn't too bad £60 for the test and a couple of bulbs, and my OH car needed a couple of tyres so that was into 3 figures but had to be done. I've hardly spent anything on cars this month so i should balance out. Groceries are still going to be well in excess of budget, but I literally think 90% of entertainment budget won't be spent this month so should balance out.
DD2 is screaming at the wall at how slow her university are at deciding what to do - they have cancelled all lessons but not decided about closing completely (as other uni's have) so she is in limbo - at least her part time work has now closed but will pay her sick pay so she can stay safe and do her essays but even she thinks she is fiddling while Rome burnsI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

DS's uni is similar. I would have bought the TP. None around here. We will run out this week if don't manage to get some.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That's a dreadful situation for you savingholmes - I wish you luck and hope the new approach taken by the supermarkets leaves more for everyone.
Probably TMI but you should try Keto - my need for TP is considerably less than it was by a considerable factor - eggsactly why I can't tellI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Hi Mark - I have an MSE person offering to send me some in the post if need be! We have tissues. I now realise if it comes to it we also have fancy serviettes! We could separate the ply on to make them more suitable perhaps?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
