See the doctor about health concerns when they occur and not when it becomes more of an issue. There's an element of burying my head in the sand and also an element of fear/PTSD that goes back to my break down for this. CBT in 2019 went some way to breaking down some barriers for a time but it hasn't lasted.
Oh I so hope you achieve all of your resolutions SingleSue but this one really struck a chord with me. I'm still in recovery for CPTSD and have gone through several cycles of CBT. You sound like a bl00dy amazing person. First Quarterly check in... I bet none of us thought we'd be living under the current restrictions when we posted back at the start of the year! The last few weeks have been crazily busy so I haven't really had a lot of time for personal targets.
1. Lose weight - failing miserably - too much else to think about atm. (Also, I am isolating under instructions from NHS/111 and working from home this week, which is not helping!)
2. Finances - Although I have a low paid job, I am very lucky that it is one where we have been told we will continue to be paid as usual (key worker role, public sector). I have made a few lump sum 'up front' payments to various things in case this changes, which I hadn't intended to do at the start of the year but it gives me some peace of mind in what are, currently, uncertain circumstances.
3. Declutter - other priorities right now...
4. Creativity/productivity - I want to reduce the amount of time I waste browsing on my iPad/phone in front of the TV and spend the time more productively and creatively, particularly knitting and sewing which I used to do a lot. - I made a good start on this one, I bought a new sewing machine, am knitting a temperature blanket, have transformed a few household things for my daughter, made myself a new skirt for work (although still waiting to be hemmed) and I have the fabric ready for several more projects when I get some more time.
Unfortunately, over the last few weeks I have needed to do some work at home in the evenings, so iPad and phone have had far too much of my attention! Hopefully this should settle down once we're in a new routine.
Hope everyone is keeping well and that some of you will have more time to focus on your personal goals than I have at the moment!

gettingtheresometime said:So here's the 2020 challenges:
1) to walk the Camino de Santiago....I've already booked the flight out & the first couple of nights accommodation
2) to knit enough squares to hit 2019's target....I certainly have the wool !
3) I'd also like to knit a temperature blanket for 2020
4) would like to restart reading more; think I need to leave the tablet downstairs in the nights
5) going on from (4) try & have one night a week tablet/phone free
2. Enforced lockdown has increased the amount of time I have to knit so may hit this one.
3. Haven't really started this yet as I seem to be concentrating on (2)
4. I did start to read more, then it tailed away but I've started to read more as my need to come off social media increases....there's only so much funny memes you can tolerate.
5. Haven't really achieved this but since the lockdown I've tried to limit my usage….finding my mental health was struggling & found listening to the radio was far better for me.

belfastgirl23 said:So now I’ve done a bit of thinking and reviewing, my resolutions for 2020. One thing I’ve been thinking about is managing my focus - the last few years have been hard for a few (good) reasons but I’m determined 2020 is a year for turning a corner and focusing on the good stuff. Being grateful and noticing and saying it is also something I want to focus on.
One offs- Get the downstairs of the house painted (kitchen, sitting room, bathroom)
- Clean the attic - it’s like Halloween up there.
- Make a will (yes it’s on the list again) FEELING MORE URGENT THESE DAYS, PLANNING TO AT LEAST WRITE OUT MY WISHES OVER EASTER
- Travel to a new country or at least a new city HAHA FAT CHANCE
Health- Go to all my gym classes LUCKILY THEY MOVED ONLINE SO YES SO FAR
- Walk 2020 miles including hillwalking and walking in nature 502 MILES UP TIL END MARCH
- Schedule one quiet weekend a month (no visitors) LOL
- See a doctor about something I’ve been putting off LUCKILY DONE IN JANUARY
Overall goal is to lose a stone and be within the weight range I want before June. I’m giving up alcohol entirely until I hit that weight range so that’s a good incentive! 13LBS DOWN!
Family and friends- Keep in touch with relatives - have designated monthly and quarterly goals on this YES
- Be a better friend - keep in touch and answer texts/emails and support people who need it YES, MORE IMPORTANT NOW THAN EVERY
Work- Don’t let myself be derailed by other peoples priorities and don’t take their complaints too seriously AGAIN LOL NO ONE TO DERAIL ME NOW I’M WFH
- Apply for professional recognition and also see if I can get recognition for the team WORKING ON IT
- Recruit someone to help out WORKING ON IT
Finances- Change bank
- Keep up to date with financial admin YES
- Keep trying to save money - set money aside for long term house improvement goal (£2k) [STRIKE]and consider a LISA - I hadn’t heard of this so thanks for the tip[/STRIKE]Hadn’t heard of it cos I’m too old for it lol forget the LISA YES
Other- Read 100 books 30 BOOKS IN
- Stop random surfing - leave the phone in the kitchen in the evening and overnight NO TERRIBLE JUST NOW
- Reduce plastic waste wherever possible and measure how often I put the bin out YES
- Write thank you notes (at least one a month) YES
Thanks everyone for all the inspiration and will check in quarterly and see how you’re getting on
Sobering realising that making a will, or at least leaving some indication of my wishes, is a higher priority now. Age wise and health wise I’m not in a high risk category but even so.
And have actually ticked other things off my long term list now too. I’d been intending to properly set up a home office for years and hey presto, necessity has forced me into it.
Hope everyone else is doing ok and keeping well and safe.
