The thought of being zero gives me anxiety now 🙈
I messed up after my first debtfree moment so am feeling more determined to not go back there now 🙏🏼Savings - Emergency fund £600.17/5000

Our new sofa arrived last week and it’s so lovely, I’m so pleased we managed to get the home finally finished - only took us 11 years 😂
SO many people have made comment about repayments, and it’s been such a lovely feeling to say none we bought it without finance 😍
Savings has been a little slow, but it’s over the £1k which is just amazing to be honest. Not long ago I didn’t even have £10 spare 🙈
Its a huge weight off my mind knowing it’s there if needed. Hoping to build it up in the event of future emergencies or purchases that may be needed.

Well covid hit us!
my teenage daughter tested positive on Friday so we are in isolation.
She is ok first 3 days was the worst for her.
Hubby don’t get paid for sickness, he will not only lose the days off “sick” but also the monthly bonus and his boss has refused him annual leave to cover the time off as the annual leave book is full and it will mess with their figures 🤬
Hubby has called payroll and head office and all agree annual leave can’t be granted due to their figures! It seems very unfair to me as that’s his annual leave and his not taking a holiday just wanting to use that as a wage 😭
Yoid think after 20 years working there they’d agree somehow.
The £500 test and trace payment has been refused.
It seems if your not on benefits or earning above 16k you can’t get help.
SO my £1300 savings have gone into hubby’s bank so we can at least be ok financially til this is over.
At the moment we are negative and in day 5.
EMERGENCY FUNDS are essential!
I have no idea what we’d of done if I’d not had the savings. We’d likely be in debt again, in arrears and would be months playing catch up getting missed bills paid 🙈
im not scared of us getting covid because of the illness, I’m scared because of the financial side 😓
I’m sure there are many in the same position too who are only concerned about the money loss.
SO savings £0 BUT STILL debt free 🙏🏼Savings - Emergency fund £600.17/5000

Sorry that Covid has put a spanner in your finances and seems very unfair they wont let your husband take leave so he can still collect his bonus. Well done on having the savings to get you over this patch though. This is going to be all too common now the rates are rising. How tempting will it be I wonder for people not to bother isolating in case they lose out financially?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Well done for having the Emergency Fund. As you say you would have been back in debt if you hadn't had it. Once DH is back to work you can start rebuilding it.
Do you also have pots for other things like white goods, decorating, car expenses etc etc? If not I can really recommend it. It makes life so much easier.

Great that you’ve had the EF there.
Maybe try to look at it that you’ve used it to get your husband an extra couple of weeks to spend with the family? Hopefully turns the negative into a positive at least he’ll get proper time together with you all for holiday. I do fully agree with you though about his work being unfair with how they’ve treated in!!April 2020 - £102,222 Loans/CC’s.

I tested positive this morning 😭
SO what was day 8 of isolating is now day 2!
I have no other savings at all joe, so will need to rebuild some once hubby is back to work!
after being debt free I started saving the hope was to save enough to cover a few months wage if lost and to have a separate pot for other finances that cropped up.
SO will definitely be doing this once we are back on track!Savings - Emergency fund £600.17/5000

We are on day 7 isolation, I’m feeling fine.
My son now has symptoms and should get results tomorrow it’s like being on a roller coaster that won’t stop!!
IF his positive we go back to day 4 🙈
Then it’s to see if hubby catches it too 🙄Savings - Emergency fund £600.17/5000

So frustrating but you are doing the right thingI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine1 -
I would say stop doing the tests if you can, they're packaged by children and adults in sweatshops using their bare hands not in a sterile environment and then put up people's noses and throats, plus they have chemicals on them I wouldn't want up my child's nose.0
