A grand cheaper than the next trim level is a big gap when we're talking £7-8k OTR. Any colour you want so long as it's white, steelies, black bumpers, keep-fit windows, no rear head restraints, key-in-door locking...
And nobody buys them.

Some dacia do look quite good. the dacia duster looks quite tidy.
Though on the sandero I think I'd want the essential pack.
Do think it's a little bit too much of a skimp though, I wouldn't get a car without AC or cruise control. You do have to get the highest spec to get the cruise control.
I wonder what sort of people opt to get a brand new dacia from the showroom, instead of just getting a 3-4 year old ford or VW.0 -

I think it is more a case of they don't bring in many poverty spec. models for you to buy.
If I were buying Dacia, I'd have poverty spec.
As you say, it saves a massive amount, the next trim level adds a radio (which won't be as good as an aftermarket one), alloy wheels (vastly inferior to steel) and carpets (that you will immediately put rubber mats over) for a massive price increase (and no doubt a much healthier profit)
Dacia seem to be going the same way as Skoda & Hyundai/Kia- once they convince the public that they are cheap cars, up go the prices.
I would say the entry level cars are almost loss leaders for them, so its in nobodys interest to sell you one.
In the Sandero range theres +£1,000 price difference to move up to the variant with most of the bits people want.
Most people will PCP them though so adding maybe £25 a month for such "luxuries" as air con, electric windows, height adjustable seat / steering wheel and a radio / cd player0 -
There is a nice looking 2000 X-reg Corsa 1.0 for sale near me for £395. It's in that horrible pastel green colour popular with old biddies who only drive to the shops in second gear and back. It looks to be in very good nick too. If I was in the market for cheap shed to get me from A to B I'd certainly be taking a look!0

The power of advertising- "time to get the hoover out" "hoover the carpets" "hoover it up" when most people haven't seen a genuine Hoover now we have those British ones made in China or a Henry.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
