I am in the south west. Looking back at my photos, I had planted out my tomatoes in late April, but i remember that i had to watch out for low temps overnight, and would wrap them in bubble wrap on those nights. By mid may here, they were fine on their own. I know because we went away for a week, 17th - 23rd May, and the plants all thrived. Indeed, it was a very hot week, and I had a neighbour watering them for me whilst away.February wins: Theatre tickets1

Tripped and dropped all my repotted herbs and baby leeks (the windowsill was too hot)! OH helped to pot them up again quickly. Fingers crossed. Think lost a couple of basil and the rosemaryIt's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.0

Oh dear - at least you managed to save most.
I've just potted up some chilli plants that came this morning, just told Mrs CRV how to water my greenhouse while I'm away working this weekend. Hoping on my return Tuesday that they have survived! She's out sorting the pond at the minute. I've watered everything in pots and am hoping for a cloudy weekend so they don't all dry out.CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!0 -
More tidying here today. Legs really ache (steroids) but getting the best exercise since June. Time for another mini bonfo tomorrow and/or test the Kelly Kettle. And following Monty Don'sadvice this evening, lift & divide snowdrops. But before that, strimming. Also hoping to start some carrots but have to clear that raised bed first
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Got around to sowing some seed in one of those mini seed trays with a plastic lid over that Aldi (think) were selling a few weeks ago. Mostly same as last year Money Maker salad toms, Terenza cheery toms which were both a great success, Brandy Wine beef toms (said I wasn't going to bother again but hay ho) Ailsa Craig salad toms (new this year for me) red peppers, Jalapeno (another I was going to kick into touch) courgette and marrow.
Loads of daffs coming up in my containers so there has been regular cuttings to cheer the lounge up a bit!0 -
Leeks, shallots, sweet peppers, chillies and tomatoes all potted on. I've started to move them into the greenhouse where it's lighter but I covered them over with fleece tonight as it's been frosty these last few days. More onions to start tomorrow. Has anyone started their parsnips yet? I've been saving the very rare commodity of toilet roll tubes these last few months because I never seem to be able to get parsnips to germinate outdoors so I thought I'd start them off indoors this year to see if I can get a decent crop.0

Sowed some beetroot and Swiss chard today, also divided my tomatoes which for some reason I've been putting off but it's done now at least. I said I wasn't going to grow any this year but somehow I've ended up with a windowsill full!

Hello fellow growers.....hope everyone is ok? What strange times we find ourselves in!!
I work in a restaurant so have obviously been furloughed from work. My allotment shall be keeping me sane and giving me my daily exercise while all this is going on. Luckily the weather was beautiful last week and I went every day. Got a huge amount of weeding done and digging a little every day to prepare ground for when needed. Best it has ever looked! Unfortunately my mam passed away on Valentines Day and my Dad is now on his own.He seems to be Ok but I thought coming to the allotment would help take his mind off things but this Corona Virus has thrown everything upside down. Hopefuuly he will regain his interest in time.
Have lots of things started on the dining room table and my daughter is in charge of courgettes as she uses some for her fish tank. She was so excited to seem them pop through the other day so Im hoping I am slowly giving her the gardening bug lol......have to admit at age 25 I wasnt interested in the slightest.
Today is the first day I havent been to the plot. Wind is horrible and it keeps hailing so hoping will be nicer tomorrow,
Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £603
