£1 spent on 2 chicken meals and 2 fish meals - ok not massive meals and will need something to with them but was a good discount i didn't want to miss.
I'm enjoying seeing peoples meal plans - it is a big help and inspiration. I'm not meal planning as such at the mo. i am overwhelmed with all the tins / jars etc that i thought i'd ease into it a bit when i've reduced down what we have. My M.O at the moment is to simply try and use something out of the freezer a few times a week and something from the cupboard at least once a week. Once i can easily see what we have in the cupboard i'll consider that progress madeA very loose idea of evening meals is:
Day 1 Filled Jacket Potatoes
Day 2 Pie
Day 3 Pasta bake
Day 4 Something on toast
Day 5 Fish / fish cakes / fish fingers / fish curry
Day 6 Roast Dinner
Day 7 Curry from leftover meat or chilli if already made
So a few easier meals tucked in there at the mo. My budget covers all our breakfasts and lunches as well.
I've written a shopping list for tomorrow and will be aiming to make the chickpea curry next week which should see a couple of tins of that gone :T I know this is the sort of thing i;ll need in the future but i am striving for a bit of a order. Wish i'd noted who it was but i saw someone was having blood test for their Vitamin D and i am the same so feeling a bit run down just now. I know once everything has been eaten and i'm on top of the cupboard situation i'll be fretting over the cost of shopping :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:1st May 2025

Absolutely bloomin delighted to say that for 1 adult plus two ravenous teens I have so far spent £52.98 this month! Well below my budget thanks to the very full post Christmas freezer.
My biggest spend this month has been £13 odd at Aldi, where I get the things that I need to buy. The meals have been based on what's in the freezer or what I have bought yellow sticker at the supermarket on the walk home.
Everything that isn't from the freezer is also batch cooked so it's covering more than one day's meals. Made pizzas at the weekend, again I made enough dough to do a couple of days worth - the kids were delighted! Big thumbs up from ds too as he thought it was nicer than his favourite shop bought pizza (thank you Jamie Oliver!)
Got to do a shot tomorrow for all the basics but hopefully it shouldn't take me over £20 - really need to make this a successful under budget month as every penny I don't spend gets saved.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020
