I'm another who's not bothered about cameras.
I don't intend to do anything illegal.
Big fuss over nothing in my opinion.

But if it bothers anyone so much, they do have the option to shop elsewhere.

What's a post about buying bottled water doing on an Old Style Money Saving board ?
Yes, more suited to 'Prase, vent & warnings'.
I looked up at the ceiling and counted a further 36 cameras.

    Talk about suspicious behaviour. :D

Did anyone watch "The Capture" recently?

I know it's fiction (well I hope so) but it does make you think.

Maybe it will be (or is already) possible.

    Framed by fake CCTV!!
This has intrigued me but should still be on the iPlayer so I look forward to bingeing on it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Capture_(TV_series)

  • I like the cctv concept, all good backup to catch criminals scamming and mugging little old ladies

I'd say "all good backup to catch criminals doing anything they shouldn't be doing to anybody".
I don't discriminate on size, age or gender. :rotfl:

    I welcome CCTV on buses.

I think it's generally held to be 'safer' here

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Coz it's old style..... in the olden days you went to a supermarket and bought a plastic bottle of water and probably grabbed some free plastic bags (the frugal bit) to use as rubbish bags. Now a days you'd have a reusable aluminium drinks bottle and no free bags!

    Does that answer your question?

I really don't care a hoot about how many times Im captured on camera. So why are you worrying about a checkout camera?

Yes there are loads and loads of CCTV cameras that's not the point I'm making. It's the IN YOUR FACE screen!
  • I used to be very much against it, but now I'm kind of ambivalent to it for reasons many on the thread have already outlined. My remaining concern though is commercialisation of the footage - CCTV can easily go the way of internet cookies

Too late, the thread ran in the other direction...

I agree though - A big screen replaying my increasing frustration with the self service till back at me would certainly make me shop elsewhere. I avoid self service like the plague
