I have actually seen a ghost in the house of some friends. It was a man and he was wearing a long coat and a hat. He walked in through the front door and entered their living room which was opposite the front door. There were a group of us in the house at the time and I thought it was one of the group but when I looked we were all accounted for down the far end of the corridor near the front door. I remember thinking this. "If we are all down here who on earth was that?"
  • I saw an apparition in my house three months after we moved in.

The house was built in the 1890s.

The figure had no face but other unusual details. Sadly it turned out to be a dear friend who had committed suicide two days earlier (she had promised to try to appear to me if she could).

It took several weeks for me to find out who it was due to delays getting her body back to her hometown. A friend of hers there worked for the local coroner and got me copy of the initial report that confirmed details that I saw.

Hectors House, that's a very moving story....

Actually, I experienced something of a similar sort following the death of my best friend a couple of years ago. It brought me comfort at the time and I shan't forget the experience.

Yes, it was (and is) a comfort. Just a pity I had to see what the police saw when the broke into her hotel room. At least I didn’t see her face.

The unusual details I did see have made me, more or less believe we survive death as I can’t come up with any rational explanation for what I saw.

Would you care to share your experience.

It was a Sunday morning and we were leaving to go do the weekly shop.

Our neighbour came out to talk to us and caught my sister.

It was a nice day and my sis had a habit of leaving her bedroom window open so I looked up to make sure it was shut. There was a female standing there, solid with a grey mist where the face would be.

I kept my eyes on it and noticed it was wearing what I took to be a loose-fitting dress with a dark blue band around the high necked collar.

There was a large, red/black stain over the shoulder and down onto the breast.

It wasn’t until I saw the coroners report I realised she had died sitting in bed in her favourite nightdress - with a high neck topped with a band of dark blue satin.

What the police took to be blood over her front was the bottle of red wine she drank before chasing it down with the contents of approx 50 morphine capsules. She never could take her morphine orally so her body had tried to vomit it back up and the way she had slumped into the pillows meant she brought it up over the shoulder and breast.

Sorry if anyone finds the details upsetting.

As I say, I can’t explain this. I didn’t know she’d gone away as she told me she would see me the following week as she had a deadline to meet (her words exactly).

I am on the fence in terms of the supernatural. I rented a holiday cottage in Wales (oldy worldy cott) some 15 years ago - my daughter aged 6 and son aged 8 were in separate bedrooms and monitored items being moved around in the room. As adults they still recall this experience and still freaks them out. I was 'freaked' out when in Somerset in a holiday cottage and seeing a reflection of an 'old women' in a mirror - my late Mum also saw it. I have rented many holiday cottages over 30 + years so may be this was just bad luck.

Not property related, but might as well share as I'm finding these fascinating! Was on a tube the other week and looking down (probably playing Soda Crush). You know when you sort of see someone out of the corner of your eye but don't actually look at them, I had that strange feeling the person I could see wasn't actually there. Lifted my head slowly almost not wanting to look, and he'd gone. Was a black man in a purple top or coat. Slightly unruly hair. Really staring at me.

Now I sound like a complete weirdo lol. I don't really believe in it either, but do have a few unexplained things.

Drove back from Brentwood to Chingford once. Was driving down a lane and that song that goes 'Fire' in the horrible menacing voice (might be by the Doors) came on. Wanted to turn it over but something wouldn't shake from my head that it was a warning. Turned music down, opened window, and really listened, then thought the car/steering wheel felt funny. Pulled straight into a bus stop and my rear driver's side tyre was flat as a pancake. Hadn't felt it so must've just happened.
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*

Perhaps ghosts are natural phenomena we normally wouldn't perceive, breaking through into some people's consciousness? We are only capable of seeing a fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum, but maybe some see more.

A friend of mine sees auras around living things and he claims he's bombarded with too much sensory information. I can't be sure he's for real, of course, but he's a quiet, introverted person, not a publicity seeker.

Also, at atomic and sub-atomic levels, our nice 'solid' reality itself appears illusory, so I'm not convinced what our senses detect is necessarily the real deal either!

Many years ago we stayed in a really old house with the girl guides. Some of the guides were camping outside and some of us were inside in big dormitories with bunk beds. There were about 10 of us in our room and there was a toilet and shower room attached to our room.
I couldn't sleep and very late at night I heard the door in the toilet room being opened and someone walking around the shower. It wasnt anyone from our dorm and I thought it was someone who was camping, and had come in from outside needing to use the loo. There was a door in the loo to the outside, however the footsteps were very slow and laboured.
The following day it turned out the door to the outside from the toilet room hadn't been opened and in fact hadn't been used for a number of years.
